Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic Sungrown 7 * 46

Something about an Arturo Fuente Hemingway that always catches your eye. Not to mention when it’s a “classic" sun grown wrapper that’s actually released once a year in small batches. You’ve probably seen this unique narrowed foot shape on their other popular sizes such as "the best seller" and "shorty story” this one being the 7 X 48. The elegance of the wrapper color and perfecto shape just makes this cigar beautiful. With it’s unique design, just simply lighting it with a single match makes it so much more satisfying. Once lit I got deep notes of cedar, earth and coffee. All that credit goes to the delicious SG wrapper which gives off a good thick Medium smoke output. Mid way it still kept a great draw with consistent flavors, pepper and caramel coming into play. The burn was quite perfect and kept a solid ash throughout. Was a bit on the dry side for my taste but still kept it’s tasty consistent flavor to the end. Honestly a great priced cigar for the quality you’re getting. Picked on 09/03/2021
Plasencia Cosecha 146 La Musica Robusto 5 * 50

If there’s one Company that knows about cigars, it’s Plasencia. They’ve been harvesting and rolling tobacco for 30 plus companies you and I smoke on a daily basis for years and was very enticed when I had the chance to review this treat. For staters, the appearance on the wrapper has a nice Honduran criollo ‘98 that smells like honey and cedar. Once lit I tasted notes of nutmeg and caramel with a slight spiciness to it. Very impressed with the even burn for how much I was pulling on it throughout. Towards the middle notes of molasses, cedar and a hit of leather stuck with the spiciness diminishing. Being on this portion of the cigar I can honestly say that it’s a medium strength full flavored stick. As I’m finishing, nutmeg came back and leather stuck around with little to no spiciness. Cigar had an over all great aroma of honey, caramel and nuts. If you haven’t tried a Plasencia, I would highly recommend putting one on your smoking list. Definitely worth the puff! Don Lino Africa Duma Robusto 5 * 50

The Don Lino Africa "Duma" (Robusto) was quite the delight, I had to make a this one of my staff picks. For starters, this line was released back in 04 and since then has had a bit of a make over with a little help from AJ Fernandez. The box itself has an eye catching yellow gloss finish with a nice African pattern. This blend utilizes an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Cameroon binder with a mix of Dominican piloto and Nicaraguan tobaccos. As far as the smoking experience, first portion was pure wood, leather and a light black pepper flavor. Burn was even and lengthy, this is quite the slow burner due to the oily wrapper. Wood did stay lingering but started to tastes notes of earth, chocolate and even caramel. Would say that this is a medium-full on strength and full on flavor. Towards the ending, black pepper dies down but creaminess does remain to the nub. Temps did get a bit high after the third quarter but that's expectable for a Robusto. Good news is that you don't have to fly a whole Continent to try one of theses African beasts. Picked on 04/18/2021
Drunk Chicken Fat Hen Torpedo Shorty 4 * 60

As odd as the brand's name might be, The Drunken Chicken “Fat Hen” really surprised me with its flavor and profile. Drunken Chicken Cigars is a small boutique brand that has been around for two years. It is an American made brand from DC that is actually veteran owned. Now on to the stick! The unique "torpedo shorty" 4x60 shape of this delightful medium strength, full flavored cigar definitely caught my attention. This stick sports a Habano wrapper on top of a combination of Ecuadorian, Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. During the first portion, I noticed flavors of wood & earth with a hint of black pepper. The ash held very solidly and had a beautiful white tone to it. Towards the middle, flavors of nuts and chocolate came in to play with the pepper still lingering. Regarding the construction, it is a very well made and oily cigar with a solid triple cap and wonderful nutty aroma to it. Towards the end, the temperature did get a bit high, but the flavor kept me going. The pepper did die out during its final portion, and it finished with only smooth, creamy notes. This was one of those very few cigars that I’ve smoked to the nub because of how delicious it was. My ash was SOLID throughout the whole experience to the nub. I highly recommend this fatty. CLE 25th Anniversary Robusto 5 * 50

This gorgeous 25th Anniversary CLE Robusto was such a fantastic way to end 2020 as hectic as it was. The “25th” is actually the number of years Christian Eiroa has been in the cigar industry so this is definitely another milestone cigar. Being a 100% Authentic Corojo from wrapper to filler, this really enticed me to try it. For starters I immediately had notes of pepper, oak and a strong aroma of cider added to the mix. Towards the middle, the pepper eventually died down and chocolate, coffee and oak took over. With a cider and earthy retro-hale, I would definitely say this is full on flavor and medium in strength. Now onto the last third, notes of chocolate and oak remain and becomes creamier. Temp does become a bit hot but definitely worth the smokey goodness. You can try this stick in 4 sizes including the TAA (11/18). So forget about last years problems and toast to new beginnings! Cheers! Picked on 01/16/2021
Liga Privada No. 9 Corona Viva 6 * 46

There is a lot to say about the Liga Privada No.9 by Drew Estate, so I'll do my best to keep it concise. I would like to start off with the presentation of this gorgeous cigar, a very nice dark-toned US Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with a glossy oily finish. After a year with the Neptune family I finally came across the opportunity to smoke a Liga No.9 and I must tell you, what a big regret of mine not trying it earlier. Great full-bodied stick with notes of leather and earth throughout. Strength did ease up after about halfway through. As far as construction, very well built with almost no imperfections, and I found myself marveling at the strong, bright white ash. I'd always heard about the supreme quality of the Liga Privada line, and in no way was I disappointed. I would highly recommend this stick to a smoker that's getting into richer, fuller-bodied cigars. Picked on 08/24/2020
