San Cristobal Revelation is the fourth installment of the San Cristobal brand, made for Ashton by Pepin Garcia of My Father Cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua. The wrapper leaf is an Ecuador Sumatra from the mid-priming or Viso part of the plant, making it a lighter shade than the top priming used for Ashton's famous VSG line. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

These cigars look great. The draw was a little loose but that is way better than a tight draw in my opinion. They taste really good. Kind of nutty which makes it perfect for my coffee. Also pairs well with my evening drink. The burn was sometimes perfect, an occasional touch up here and there, but that can be contributed to smoking outside in windy conditions. With that said, I am very pleased with my purchase.

I've had a lot of My Father cigars and have started dabbling in their San Cristobal line and this one stood out so far! Chocolate and some baking spices are the leading notes in this cigar! Very little to no spice, nice sweet leather, cocoa and espresso flavors at the start. Then transitions to a more earthy, cinnamon, vanilla flavor profile towards the end. Not the best burn and ash, but not a bad cigar overall. Medium+ strength, almost full, would recommend eating a heavier meal before smoking this. Not bad, but I think I've had better Maduros.

Dual banded with heritage gold and bright vibrant colors that make you want to put on a Havana hat and sit in a cabana. The bands adorn a tight russet hued, minimally veined soft box-press wrapper leaf. Cold draw and aroma are pleasant and mild. Straight cut. Flavor profile from the jump was juicy dates, supple leather and a lingering spicy finish. Draw is a bit constricted, and burnline is wavy leaving a dingy ash stack behind. Retrohale is spicy and warm toasted bread. The second third while not complex it's consistent. Dates and raisins at the front with a musty cedar and peanut base, a slight caramel sweetness joins the baking spices on the finish. Retrohale has a twist of citrus. Draw still remains constricted and the burn lazily moves along leaving an ash of arrays of grey. Taking it past the bands the citrus from the retro joins the palate, it's zesty orange and tangerine. This is met with some salt, cedar and milk chocolate to round it out. Burn needed some touch-ups, draw still in a chokehold. Overall while no real wow factor it's a solid smoke. Had that draw opened up I could see it being far more enjoyable. There's enough going on to say I'd smoke again and pickup when I want to be transported to the islands. ???????

Elegancia is a great namesake, considering the elegant dual bands. Wrapper leaf if a little stretched but nicely even toned. Draw is a much tighter than I'd like. Flavor profile is salt, wheat bread and coffee beans. Burn is flaky and unreliable. Ashed and purged at the second third, as well as draw tooled to give it a chance. Flavors were more of the same in the remaining third, with a slight Overall it's okay. For some reason I never have much luck with pyramid/torpedo. Glad I tried it and hope the draw issues are an anomaly.

I got 5 of these Coronas from another outlet as they were recommended since I LOVE the Ashton Cabinet No. 4 Corona. I am smoking my first one and they are good, but I coughed a little upon lighting it. Good flavor but they have a bit of a sharp edge to them. They are described as "medium" and well so. The Ashton Cabinet is "mild," but oh, so full of flavors. The Cabinet Corona is a much better cigar.

As of lately every time I want a nice enjoyable smoke I find my self looking at San Cristobal cigars. The San Cristobal Revelation was my newest surprise from this brand and boy it did not disappoint. The 6 x 52 size of this cigar makes for a very enjoyable hour of smoking. The Colorado Maduro wrapper made from an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf provides a very nice full bodied smoke that is perfect when you want a cigar to knock you off your feet. The cigar offered delicious warm coffee notes that for me I look for in a cigar, slight pepper under tones that I usually am not a fan of but I found very pleasant this time around. The construction and draw have yet to disappoint and I am very impressed with the overall quality of San Cristobal cigars. I highly recommend these for anyone's humidor and to have one with a cup of coffee is unbeatable.

I will purchase more for sure. The first 3rd was the best, 2nd good too. Great burn and ash (didn’t fall off until over 1/2 way through). Had to touch up last third. But was ok. The draw was excellent. I like an easy draw with lots of smoke and this delivered that. Flavor was good. Aroma I dunno as I only smoke outside. I let sit in humidor for few months at 70F and 68RH. Was 66RH at lite time. Very nice. Recommend.

A great smoke but lacked some of the flavours that I was expecting. Compared to one I smoked about 6 months ago which had lots of floral notes, was full bodied and smooth, this one lacked the floral taste which I have become very fond of. It is still an excellent cigar that lives up to its reputation and is definitely worth trying if you like a full bodied smoke.

Unfortunately had some issues with a cracked wrapper throughout the smoke. First third left a little to be desired. However I did not want the last two thirds to end. Last two thirds were filled with sweet cedar, nuts, and great floral notes with wavering some fruitiness. A very balanced, medium strength and medium body cigar. May be best in a shorter vitola.

Excellent sampler, not a dud in the bunch. The San Cristobals struck me as medium and creamy with the monumento coming in nutty and a cocoa element with the revelation. The LADC robusto was med-full with a woodiness and the MI Amor reserva employs my fav blend of San Andres over Nicaraguan fillers. The MI Amor and MI Amor reserva are my favs but you can't go wrong with any of the five.

This stick really surprised me! I got no coffee or pepper notes as listed in the description. Instead, was I in for a treat. I got a very smooth and refined citrus and peach flavor with a dry leather on the finish. It was pretty mild at first light, but by halfway the strength kicked into high gear. As a first time trying this cigar, I'm glad I did and will definitely reorder!

I chose the San Cristobal Quintessence to review as it had been a very long time since smoking this. I am very happy that I rekindled this very enjoyable smoke made by Ashton Distributors. This Quintessence cigar line was produced in 2016. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano made with high priming leafs which adds extra flavors. The binder and fillers are Nicaraguan. Upon the first light, I was hit with a blast of pepper. Not far behind was a light sweetness and creaminess along with nutty notes. The meshing of these notes with the pepper leads to a beautiful balance! Into the second third, the pepper seems to amp up a bit more but as in the first third is slowly joined with the sweetness and creaminess to balance out the smoke. Nutty and leather notes are also popping along with some notes of chocolate. The cigar at this point is a medium full to full in strength. Into the final third, complexity amps up even more-- fruity, chocolate, spicy and peppery all rolled into one! This cigar has strength and smoothness which is a key factor. I had no construction issues at all throughout the experience. I very much enjoyed this cigar and I am certain you will too!!

The San Cristobal Revelation is the kind of cigar that from the appearance alone gets me excited to start smoking it, from the sleek milk chocolate Sumatra wrapper that almost has a glossy finish to it, to the fancy artwork reminiscent of the tropical islands surrounded by gold ribbons and embossed lettering, this already has the looks of a classic cigar. From the cold draw all the way to the last quarter of the smoke, I was getting a blend of notes reminiscent of nuts, semi-sweet chocolate, vanilla beans and citrus. At the first quarter of the cigar, it was a little bit spicier than I expected, but as I kept smoking, it kept getting smoother and more flavorful with the chocolate and vanilla notes being more pronounced towards the end. The burn was very consistent, and I only needed to touch it up maybe twice through my 45 minutes of smoking this stick. It gave off a solid medium gray ash that was easily stackable. For the money, this is a very solid choice if you are looking for a nice medium bodied smoke with minimal spice and excellent flavor, this was the first cigar from the San Cristobal line that I have smoked. It was quite the "Revelation" that I was missing out on a quality line of cigars. I look forward to picking up more of these and I wish I could give this stick a higher rating.

Good cigar. Pretty mild with not a lot of spice or bitterness. Nice aroma and taste—slightly sweet. I’ve seen that described potentially as molasses or dried fruit...sounds right. Good smoke production. Draw slightly too loose to be perfect, but not bad. Fairly even burn. A few uneven parts that self corrected. Burn started to go a little wonky getting into the final third. Slight crack developed around the circumference of the cigar at one point, but did not affect the burn.

Normally I am not a big fan of uber ring gauges as they detract from the wrapper's impact on flavor. In this ensemble of cigars I have been pleasantly surprised. The San Cristobal was a marginal for me but I do gravitate toward full flavor profiles. The Elegencia was a little more flavorful on the woodsy side and the Revelation was a very pleasant smoke with notes of coffee, leather and a tad of spiciness. I have enjoyed trying these three sticks as part of a box set. AJ has done it again.

If you’re looking for a strong cigar, this is it; it’s one of the two strongest outside of the AF Anejos That I know of, the other being the LFD chisels. I’ve always had the sense though that it coats my mouth. It’s a great cigar though, but be ready.

This is my favorite cigar and it's under 10 dollars a smoke. Burns even, solid construction, easy draw, pleasant aroma, and even better on the palate. This is a slow burn, so make sure to set aside a couple of hours to enjoy. I would highly recommend to friends and I've purchased multiple boxes with more planned in the future.

From its artfully designed band to its natural Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the San Cristobal Quintessence robusto was a joy to behold. But! It was an even better delight to smoke. Its beautiful light-brown wrapper was a little veiny and slightly cracked at the foot, but this minor imperfection did not affect its performance. The construction was firm and had a little give. I sniffed its foot and got a nice hint of spice. After cutting the head, I did a cold draw and was greeted with more spice, but it was not overpowering. During the first third, I was surprised by this stick’s mildness and sweetness. The first retro-hale was a little peppery. The finish coated my palate with a warm creaminess. As I puffed on, a sweet tobacco flavor made its presence known. Overall, the draw was effortless. The Quintessence’s ash had a nice salt and peppery look, and its burn was sharp. Into the second third, the tobacco flavor pulled back and the spice picked up. The strengthen gradually shifted from mild to medium. Into the final third, the tobacco flavor picked up, but the spice stayed true. It took me 45 minutes to smoke the San Cristobal Quintessence robusto, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I’d recommend this cigar to aficionados who enjoy a morning smoke with their coffee.

Not so good experience with this cigar (I only tried to smoke one). It's difficult to judge it fairly. The draw was impossible even after I used my perfect draw tool to attempt a fix. After cutting it I saw the cause of the problem: 2 twigs in zigzag. The 1/2" that I struggled to smoke tasted good, but sadly it was too much work to continue. I had to put it down and let it die gracefully out of respect for the other San Christobal that I had which was superb (the Quentessence). I can see this being a great cigar if you can find one with a better construction and NOT box pressed.

Tasting notes: leather, light wood and a little hint of coffee and very faint hay and musty aged tobacco. The kind of taste you would get in a cigar twice as expensive (like a Davidoff). It’s funny, I was never a San Cristobal fan. In fact, I found it too mild for me. As I got older and my taste buds evolving, I’ve come to appreciate the well balanced taste of this cigar. Not too sweet, some citrus and floral notes makes this a wonderful morning cigar with a cup of joe.

San Cristobal’s Quintessence is a beautiful cigar. The combination of the medium-brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, and this cigar’s band, with its colorful bird and flowers, to me, represent what a premium cigar used to be. When I first sniffed the wrapper, I noticed hints of leather, mild barn smells and some sweetness. The dry draw was mild and somewhat sweet. On the first draw, there was a definite bitter/sweetness with a note of pepper. The flavor quickly settled in to grassy with hints of pepper. There were definitely changes in the Quintessence’s flavor as I smoked. In the second third I experienced more grassy notes and pepper, with the sweetness almost gone. The final third became much spicier, with pepper becoming the predominant flavor. It also went up in strength but stayed well-balanced and rich. I believe that San Cristobal’s Quintessence is more than a medium bodied cigar, as it starts to head toward full-bodied at the end. It was never overly strong but was pleasantly potent. It was an all-around tasty, Nicaraguan profile cigar.

I really enjoyed the Robusto I smoked before purchasing the higher rated pyramid. The San Cristobal conn wrapper is tightly wrapped around a generous filler but can be quite fragile. The aroma is very pleasant, almost a faint vanilla with a classic Connecticut sharpness. Burn require occasional touchups but construction is excellent. The Robusto is a hair milder while the pyramid is a little fuller. This cigar has a great retrohale that is soft and adds additional baking spices to the pallet.

The standard San Cristobal is among my favorites in the 46 RG size, so I decided to try this Connecticut version even though they aren't typically my favorite. The draw was a hair loose like I prefer but it burned quick....overall construction was great, though. Flavors were mild and creamy with a nice retro-hale...spicy but not overpowering. I'll definitely buy a couple more of these, which is not something I usually say after trying a milder Connecticut.

I'll break this up into two sections. 1st, construction: Visually beautiful with no noticeable issues with the wrapper which is very toothy, which I love. Tripple cap again which I love, just a well made cigar that can hold it's own against anything. Now the hard part; I used a V cut on my first one from the box which had no Humi time at all. My experience with non humi'd cigars is such that only Padrons, CLE Prietos and Drew Estate #9s were superb out of the box in every respect. This cigar was very close in that the burn was razor sharp with the ash holding for more than an inch. The ash also carried this toothyness which look cool and impressive. Cold draw gave me some dried fruit, pepper, molasses. Once toasted and lit, those flavors were right there along with some nuttiness. This lasted for about an inch then the flavors seemed to intermix themselves in a way such that they were not prevalent and the cigar became what I call "cardboard". Later on, about 1/3 down, theflavors came back with some woodiness but nothing in your face. The finsih during all this was always long, which I like as I found myself thinking that a nice red wine would bring out this cigar. Then the cigar blended itself together again and never gave me a superb finish to it. Now, I know that my collection of cigars that have right about 20 different kinds, and with the exception of the three I listed above, all tend to exhibit this type of "blending phenomenon" when I don't give them enough humi time. By no means am I an expert but I know my cigars and humidors. This San Cristobal design needs humi time; two months minimum at 70% in temps between 68 and 78 degrees. This cigar will become a super star if given time. BTW the burn time for out of the box was about an hours and with some humi time will run up to an hour and 20 minutes for sure. Buy one or two to get acquainted then grab a box and put them to sleep for a few months. That's all this offeri

I have to admit that I don't smoke many of the San Cristobal cigars. With the Quintessence, the blend takes on a fairly robust and pepper-driven profile that can get a bit rough at times. The touches of sourness and metals that plagued this stick, I can't find much to rave about with this blend. This is one I would not try again.

Medium to full in strength this cigar is extremely flavorful, with the right amount of spice to make it interesting without being overpowering. Starting with rich coffee notes alternating all the way with milk chocolate and an almost indescriptible floral sweetness. An excellent smoke from the beginning to the very end, nice ash more on the flaky side but with an even burn line. I highly recommend this new addition of the San Cristobal line, is the perfect cigar to bond with friends.

Prelight inspection shows solid construction and heavy and appealing caramel on the nose. The band is a beautiful historical piece and deserves your close inspection. Right away the appealing pepper others have mentioned floods the senses. This becomes a bit more sublime as the solid and even burn continues but does not morph into anything else. It may seem odd to give all 5 stars and a rating of 90 but this lack of change and nuance warrants the number given.

Wow, the box and cigars are the finest quality and look. The cigar band is beautiful and proudly displayed on the top of the box (huge - covers the entire box). The cigar produces decent smoke with true maduro flavors of coffee, dark chocolate and hints of raisin type leather. Put this in the hand of a guest and you're a true winner!

I liked the taste enough to give it another go. The draw was weak and hard. I had to touch it up twice to keep it burning. Maybe it was just a bad roll. The bands on these cigars are true works of art. Be sure to take a moment to enjoy them fully while enjoying this beautiful cigar. After the band, the first thing you'll notice about this cigar is the beautiful construction with it's silky smooth feel, slightly soft pack, veinless finish, and the delicate feel of its box pressed shape. The next thing that you'll notice is its strong musky tobacco aroma that is worthy of second, third and even fourth whiffs. Finally, after toasting, you'll be blessed with medium to full bodied flavors of leather, sweet tobacco, nuts and hints of spice for at least the next 75 to 90 minutes. You'll find the draw to be perfect with just the right amount of slight resistance, and you'll be impressed by the burn that is even and easily maintained and should yield a solid white ash of at least two inches. If you like strength in your cigars, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the last third. That's where it develops its med/full strength. Overall: Definitely a buy-a-box cigar that will never leaving you feeling underdressed in any cigar lounge. Pairing notes: This cigar deserves a bottle of your favorite brut, a couple of glasses and some good company. Enjoy!

While tipically I favor the smaller vitolas, I decided to review the San Cristobal Elegancia Pyramid. This is a good looking stick finished with a triple cap. The cigar is made by Pepin Garcia for Ashton. Knowing this fact immediately prepares you for the initial blast of pepper as soon as you light it up. Be forewarned, it is strong. You'd think they put pepper at the foot on all of the Garcia smokes. If you don't like spicy, the first few puffs will be difficult for you. However, what comes after is absolutely worth it. This is a delicious smoke with strong cedar notes and that characteristic butter creaminess you get from a Connecticut Shade wrapper. Most people think all Connecticut Shade wrapped cigars are mild or bland. This is the cigar you smoke to put that theory behind you. The Nicaraguan filler and binder balance perfectly the subtleness of the Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper, and you are left with a pleasant, nutty, complex, medium bodied smoke. The burn and draw are also outstanding. All in all, a very satisfying cigar for both novice and veteran smokers.
