To celebrate 50 years of crafting memorable premium cigars, the Trinidad brand has teamed up with AJ Fernandez to create a spirited cigar that captures the essence of what cigar-making is all about. It is aptly called the Trinidad Espiritu (Spanish for spirit). A Nicaraguan puro from its fetching, natural-colored wrapper to its exquisite long filler tobaccos, the Trinidad Espiritu is a handmade, medium-strength cigar. From first puff to last, the Trinidad Espiritu offers a rich complexity of flavors that hints of citrus, vanilla, and pepper.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

An attractive and well constructed cigar with meaty smoky earthy and salty undertones with a slight tanginess. Slightly firm but decent draw and nice consistent burn. Wavered between medium and medium full. Made for a nice fire pit cigar. I enjoyed it.

My son recommended this stick to me but was unsure of the wrapper to choose so I took both this Natural as well as a Maduro. I preferred the Maduro since it's closest to my profile, but I found this puro to be a very satisfying smoke. I'll focus on the maduro's, but will reach for this when I want a change.

Looks ok, wrapper seems very thin, stretched. With minimal veins and visible seams. Construction is loose, a bit spongy, which reflects on the cold loose draw, and tightens a bit once lit. Almost no aroma before lighting. Once lit, earth dominates the profile with some pepper, no transitions. Burn is even, with grey ash that falls often, does not hold even 1 inch, had to relight once. Produces ample amounts of thick smoke. Ok, just not Great, and definitely not worth the Price.

The Trinidad Espiritu Toro is a Nicaraguan cigar made by AJ Fernandez. Its wrapper, binder and filler are all Nicaraguan. The first thing that caught my eye on this cigar was the colorful band. Then I noticed the color of the cigar itself, a very nice brown color. I was intrigued that much more. At first light, the taste was great. Little hints of cream and small hints of pepper introduced themselves. It has a great aroma and flavor. The burn was good also. At the half way point, the pepper hints diminishes. But then I am introduced to some earthy notes. The creamy flavor is still present. That combination is making the cigar that much better. Towards the end of the cigar, all of that flavor is still present. It is hard to find cigars nowadays that are this consistent. Anyone looking for a great medium body cigar made by AJ Fernandez, I would definitely recommend the Trinidad Espiritu Toro.

Way to much pepper in this beautifully made cigar. I was hoping that the longer i smoked this nicely made cigar, that the other flavors would kick in. But to no avail. Nice firmness and draw with a very consistant and even burn. It's unfortunate that the spicyness and large amount of black pepper ruin what could have been a favorite.
