A distinctive square shape sets the Flor de las Antilles Maduro apart from all other box-pressed cigars. Handmade, this handsome maduro has a bold, dark Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a binder and filler from Nicaragua. A full-strength cigar, the Flor de las Antilles Maduro produces a strong barnyard aroma with tones of earth, leather, and hay.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Ecuadorian Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Very nice cigar. It does several things very well. Classic Nicaraguan flavors of baking spice, leather, almonds, and chocolate. Lost some complexity at the and had a tighter draw than I prefer but burn line was razor sharp the whole time. Didn’t have some of the uniqueness that some more recent boutique cigars have but if you enjoy this type of flavor profile you will definitely enjoy this.

The only right way to start the new brand new year? Smoking an extraordinary cigar, and the Flor De Las Antillas Maduro Torpedo is just that. This Cigar shows its elegance with its Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that makes all dark chocolate lovers like myself mouths water. Removing it from the cellophane gives an instant aroma of fruitiness. The cold draw is a fantastic mixture of cocoa and earthiness, and after lighting it up the first few puffs are just the same with a taste of berries joining the mix and just the right amount of spice. The draw and burn are just perfect from the start with no issues occurring at all; the cigar also gives a wonderful hint of coffee right at the start of the second third and is then followed up by more cocoa and fruitiness which are perfectly balanced for my tasting. All the way from the Final Third to the nub the cigar was perfectly balanced with spice, fruitiness, and cocoa as well as some leather. I would say it was the perfect combination all throughout. This stick is a medium-full bodied cigar and I would definitely pair it with a nice Rum, but it is without a doubt one of the best cigars for its price!

Immediate notes of cocoa. Smooth Sweet smoke with notes of caramel. In the first third i could taste preserved plums. The aroma off the foot was of strong barnyard or old wet hay. Great construction, great draw, great smoke output, great flavour! I’d definitely buy this smoke again.

Glorious. Perfect draw and burn. No runners. Light pepper, spice, dusty cocoa. Strength intensified as it burned down but never really got too strong. Full flavored without turning a newbie green. Excellent, excellent cigar.

Writing a review after smoking the 2nd one I bought, after some humidor time. I don't get the hype. Tasted thin and a bit harsh (esp final 1/3), especially compared to sticks like the Mi Querida Ancho Largo or even Flathead V19 that only cost $2-$4 more. It's a beautiful-looking cigar, but the flavor just wasn't there for me.

I think the rating and 5-star reviews here may have skewed me to expect too much. This is a beatiful stick, dark chocolate-brown wrapper with minor veins, solid construction. Cold draw was promising with hints of baker's chocolate, and the stick itself smelled like a block of dark cocoa. But the flavor was very "meh" ou decidedly average, and it got a bit hot in the final 1/3. Maybe I shouldn't expect the level of refinement of a Plasencia Alma Fuerte or a Padron 1926/1964 maduro, fair enough, but the flavor to me fell short of say an Oliva Serie O mauduro. I have a second one in the humidor to see how some time may change it (wish Neptune let you edit reviews). But on this first attempt, I was sort of disappointed vs the glowing reviews. Even the Joya Gran Reserva I had recently or the Joya Silver smoked better to me at similar price points. YMMV.

Beautiful cigar.. Excellent construction, smoke flow perfect and plentiful. Rather bitter for the first 2 inches, longer than the normal light-up phase of the smoke. Past this, mellowed out to a smooth smoke. Similar to Bellas Artes Maduro but not an equal. Cigar is slow burning and enjoyable... second half. I initially light in no-wind stillness but mine needed correction to counter uneven burn. It is a good cigar and priced right. I would say 89-91 quality as opposed to 96. Almost bold and full flavored.. not a bad cigar! I'd re-buy!

Wonderful taste and aroma. The dark Maduro wrapper contrasts with the colorful bands to make an absolutely beautiful cigar that puts off plumes of smoke. Did require a couple touch ups. Overall great smoke.

This stick is amazing. It received a 96 rating for a reason! Started off with a nice bite but immediately became so smooth and pleasant I could smoke this stick all day long . I absolutely love this stick and the price cannot be beat! Perfect burn line all the way down to the nub. I’m not a true aficionado just yet so I can not describe the specific distinct flavors but all I can say is you will not be disappointed. I bought a few sticks to try out but after this first stick I am buying a box and this will always be stocked in my humidor.

This was an enjoyable cigar. Burn time was 1 hour and a half (Toro) and I still had about an inch left. This cigar has so many transitions it's very hard to get to the end without finding "something" to like in there ... medium- full in body and strength draw was average great construction bla bla bla ... just smoke one.

Being part of the 'My Father' cigar brand, I had high expectation for these smokes and I wasn't disappointed. The taste is excellent with hints of sweetness. A sharp-looking cigar, too. For a small cigar, many required touch ups around the midway point and that surprised me, but overall they're an excellent experience.

You cant go wrong with any FLOR DE LAS ANTILLAS. Strong Cigar but not overpowering; full of flavor. Slight hints of pepper in the beginning. My only complaint with this one is the draw was a little tight.

The draw on this boxed press maduro was a little tight. The flavor was consistent without being anything special. For sure it was full body but not as smooth as some other full bodied cigars so it probably seemed slightly harsh for me.

This was a good cigar. Just not great. I got a couple of these along with the non maduro version. I like full bodied, but this one was not a great flavor for me. It is a great looking and well constructed MF cigar. It just didnt have the appeal for me, that the other version had.

My Father Cigars Flor de las Antillas maduro 6.5x52 torpedo Wrapper: Maduro Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Nicaraguan Burn time 1 hour 45 min The Flor De Las Antillas was one of my go to sticks when I first started on this cigar journey. To say I was excited when I heard of the release of the Maduro would be a huge understatement. On the initial light, I can taste the similarities to the original, similar earthy tones and light pepper. Different to the original, was the increase in strength. The cigar started with a tight draw and opened up very nicely after about 20 minutes. The cigar strength increased from medium to medium-full body with a very pleasant mix of woody and earthy tones. The pepper increased a bit on the exhale, still very pleasant on the tongue. The flavor stayed consistent till the nub with an excellent burn from beginning to end and a very nice tight marble ash. If your a fan of a medium to full body cigar, I highly recommend it. The strength and flavor compliment each other perfectly. Dstogieman on instagram

Phenomenol cigar!!! Similar to the regular flor de las antillas but more of an oaky flavor, more body and strength as well. Construction and burn was as good as it gets. Ash stayed on in thick 1.5 to 2” chunks and the room note the cigar left off was delicious smelling!

Really enjoyed this. Great flavor and performance across the board minus the necessity of a few burn touch ups. What really makes this thing special, though, is that it's INTERESTING to smoke. Many cigars evolve their flavor as you smoke them, but this thing shifted between completely and starkly different flavor profiles three different times. It was fascinating and a real pleasure.
