According to Ed Lahmann, Senior Brand Manager for Punch, “When it came time to select the blend for Diablo, we decided that we wanted to make the fullest-bodied Punch to date.” Mission accomplished! The Punch Diablo is handmade for the General Cigar Company in Nicaragua at the world-famous AJ Fernandez Cigars factory. The Punch Diablo’s oscuro Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper has been aged for four years. Underneath the wrapper is a six-year old Connecticut broadleaf binder which contains a Nicaraguan Habano and Honduran Habano filler that has been aged for four years. All of these fine tobaccos have banded together to make the Punch Diablo a full-bodied, full-strength cigar that creates a devilishly, spicy smoking experience.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
USA Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco is grown in the Connecticut River Valley area. The soil in this region is of glacial origins. The tobacco is dark, oily, flavorful, and aromatic. It is used primarily as a maduro wrapper, but it also serves as an excellent binder.

Saul Abrams Hey. I bought this sampler a couple times. Really liked the more full flavorful cigars in this group but don’t think I see a way to buy them themselves. I think they were the ones with the blue labels that said Classico but I’m not sure I’m seeing that as a purchase option.

The best cigar is whatever you smoke...I've been a dedicated, I only smoke Punch cigars, man for, roughly, 30 years. Smoked a real Cuban, in Tijuana, dropped it on the ground, because .. hey Tijuana ... Without missing a beat, I reach down and pick that m*********** up, stuck it in my mouth, puffed away.. it was that f****** good... Didn't even try to clean it .. A spicy entry from AJ. Actually the only Punch cigar I like, the others I've had are way too harsh, so while this is very bold, on the full side, it's very enjoyable and not harsh at all. I particularly like the somewhat oily wrapper. AJ never disappoints, even in legacy brand collabs.

I have smoked this on more than several occasions. I am always looking for a stick to have Honduran tobacco and the filler has a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobbaccos. I have smoked several boxes of this cigar. It is a flavorful cigar with peper and earth tones in the taste department. On rare occasions i have found some unevenness in the burn The ash is flakey not tight. The draw varies smi tight to good.overall i give this an 8. A thumbs up. Good value. It was rated very well by some important cigar authorities.

I waved the white flag, this cigar kicked my ass! it is B O L D. Not a bad cigar but could be a terrible experience for a novice smoker. I should let this sit for a few months and try back again with a good bourbon. everything else about the cigar is as advertised and good: construction, draw, burn. I smoked it during a break at work and when I came back everybody could smell it. So be aware, but if you up for the challenge this will make it worth your while.

This dark oily wrapped stogie has no shortage of flavor. It really packs of a punch if flavor. A bold stogie if u ask me. It's sweet and spicy all the way thru with a frequent notes of molassas, mild coffee beans and a subtle flavor of cashew nut here and there. Very unique stick.

Outstanding short panatela! Construction/burn/draw were flawless. I just need to raise that these guys are labelled as made in Honduras, so I don't think they come from the Tabacalera Fernandez like the rest of the line. However, I like the Punch diablo in larger size (after MONTHS of humidor) and these short stick do deliver the earthy profile of the sumatra.

I was not expecting as much flavor from this little diabolito as the larger diablos provide but I was pleasantly surprised as it provided me with just about as much peppery kick. Also lasted easily over a half hour and at under 14 bucks for a tin of 6 I think I've found a new favorite mini for those shorter occasions.

These are better than I expected! They all burned perfectly, and the draw was great. Lots of spice and pepper, but there were times I got a little hint of vanilla. It was a little too peppery for me to give it a real good retrohale, but overall these were bolder and tastier than I was expecting. Very pleased with the purchase and would definitely recommend them to anyone who likes spice and pepper. Not a mild stick, though, at all

For me punch isn't my favorite brand but I like it for a change of pace. They tend to have a unique taste. I enjoyed the diablo. Nice taste n aroma and good construction with a full draw and even burn throughout. Didn't strike me as strong as advertised more like a medium or medium to full but flavorful nonetheless. No complaints here I'd come back to it again.

One of the 2019 top 25, but I can name others that are better and did not score this high. OK cigar, have had burn issues and outer wrapping falling away on all I have smoked, almost ten, now. Flavor is impacting and rich, not bold, first half, then they devolve to a bitterness that is not pleasing. It looks great, wish it tasted on par with appearance. I think this cigar could be better after a month in my humidor, we shall see. Tops... maybe 86-88 range, and that is being kind.

The Punch Diablo Stump is one hell of a short perfecto that’s right sized if you don’t have a lot of time, but you want to smoke a stick that packs a devilish punch. It measures 4 1/2 inches long with a hefty 60 ring gauge at the foot which tapers down to a smaller and manageable gauge at the head. But, don’t let its small size fool you. Its bold, dark no nonsense Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper telegraphed this stick’s potency. A strong tobacco and spice aroma jabbed me right on the nose when I peeled off the cellophane wrapper. The cold draw was spicy, and I could detect some pepper. The first couple of puffs were spicy and strong. The tobacco flavor was there but it was subdued by the spice. The retro-hale was peppery. The Diablo has a long-lasting finish that is spicy. The smoke was billowy, and it had a bluish tint to it. The draw was tight, but by rolling and pressing the body it got looser. Strength-wise this little devil started out medium, but it picked up in the second and final third. Warning! Don’t smoke this stick on an empty stomach. During the second third, the spice settled down a bit, and the tobacco and wood flavor picked up. The ash was white. In the final third the spice came back to the forefront, but it did not over-power the tobacco flavor. I’d recommend the Punch Diablo Stump to the veteran cigar lover. Its strong and delivers one spicy punch after the other.

I purchased this stick after reading the review on cigar aficionado...said it was like eating a brownie. That unfortunately was not the case. Full body mostly espresso, coffee bean flavour with black pepper flavour, very faint chocolate and licorice on finish in some parts, but fleeting. Was fairly smooth but not the flavour profile that I was lead to believe.
