CAO has always been one to spotlight different countries and regions around the world for their unique and innovative blends, and they are excited to introduce their latest venture - the CAO Zocalo. Featuring a dark and oily Mexican San Andres wrapper, this is CAO's only cigar in their current lineup containing Mexican tobacco. Named after the main square in Central Mexico City, the CAO Zocalo is rich and tasty, with a Cameroon binder and Nicaraguan filler rounding out the zesty full-bodied blend very nicely. Slated for a limited run of just 3,500 boxes, this is one trip you won't want to miss.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

I found the draw a little firm too but it had a nice consistent burn and a good flavor and aroma. I got nuts coffee and pepper mostly. A nice enjoyable smoke. A looser draw would make it even better.

Excellent cigar! well balanced mix of coffee, dried fruits, some citrus and wood. Very smooth with a touch of pepper. Also surprisingly complex for a cigar at that price. The burn wasn't perfect, but adequate (cpl of touches here and there). Definitely box worthy!

Cigare sympathique de belle allure et de construction honnête. Le tirage n'est pas des meilleurs mais il y a pire. Très léger à l'allumage, le cigare monte doucement en puissance tiers après tiers. Pour mon palis, les notes de cuir et d’épices poivrées se sont fait ressentir. Cette vitole à une très jolie cape maduro. A noter, que certains modules ont présenté quelques défauts, la cape finissant le dernier tier déchiré. Dans l'ensemble, on passe un bon moment en sa compagnie si on sait de dompter sans trop le faire chauffer, ce qui évitera à la cape de partir en lambeaux.

The first half inch of this burn is pretty nasty tbh, was kind of tough to stick with it. About an inch and a half into it she began to mellow considerably into a very enjoyable smoke. Burned it down to about 3" and it completely fell apart. Never had a wrapping come off like this did. I bought the last 3 you had, and it's the last 3 I'll ever buy.

Master blender Rick Rodriguez has always had his hand in creating some great cigars for CAO. He does not disappoint with his latest, the CAO Zocalo Gigante. The Mexican San Andres wrapper catches your attention quickly, with a dark wrapper that calls to you. At first light, you are introduced to a nice combination of earthy and woody notes. Some hints of spice and pepper are also present. It starts off as a solid medium body strength, and the draw is excellent, giving you a mouth full of great flavor with every puff. At the half way point, the spice and pepper does diminish a bit. The flavor is still very much there, though. By now, the strength has picked up to a medium full. Towards the end of the cigar, the hints of pepper and spice make a return. The flavors are still consistent. All in all, this is one great cigar that you must try. Also, if you are going to have a drink with it, I would highly recommend the Johnnie Walker Double Black. The oakiness of the Scotch compliments the flavor of the cigar wonderfully. Enjoy...

Definitely box worthy. A delicious cigar with rich pepper notes and the perfect amount of spice. This is a cigar you'll want to smoke any day, especially if you love full bodied sticks. The draw is a bit snug, but with these flavors and the decent price, it's forgivable.
