The Encore Black cigar was released by EP Carillo as a follow-up to their award-winning Encore cigar. It is a bolder and spicier reimagined version of the original with more layers of complexity. The blend’s dark, muscular Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper is supported by a Mexican San Andres binder and a Nicaraguan filler composed of leaves from Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa, regions well-known for their excellent tobaccos. The leaves are aged and undergo a meticulous hand-fermentation process, which contributes to the cigar’s unique flavor profile and enjoyment. The cigar’s memorable blend is matched by its superb construction and represents the Perez-Carrillo family’s passion and dedication to crafting memorable cigars.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.

This cigar smokes excellent on the dryer side. Not a ton on the cold draw, but coffee and slightly sweet oak power up on the ignition. The first third is full of coffee, black pepper, and touches of sweetness of varying styles. I noticed dark chocolate, bbq mesquite wood, and other bold sweetness notes.

True to the description. Bold. Not overwhelmingly so, but a solid medium-full with no shortage of flavor. The broadleaf wrapper paired with san andreas bunder works well here and provides the roasty flavors of cocoa and a hint of spice. It's rounded out with a slight sweetness. A solid offering.

Excellent cigar that tastes just like a dark maduro should with plenty of dark coffee, dark chocolate and spice. Excellent draw and burn if it did smoke a little bit fast. Only the hefty price tag will prevent me from buying this one more often but a great special occasion smoke.

The EP Carrillo Encore Black is a very good cigar, very similar to The Pledge which is my favorite of the two. The difference between the two is that I find that the Encore Black is more bold and potent than The Pledge.

I was looking so forward to this smoke because the original "Encore" greeted my palate with such favorable flavors... I received a nice warming spice with the retrohale but I never had any pepper burn like many reviews I read post smoking this cigar... To be honest I did enjoy the cigar until it turned "chalky" & it went straight downhill from there... I was heartbroken because I set aside a special time/place to review this cigar & with the original Encore being one of my favorite sticks, I looked & hoped big things were heading my way... Since the release of the original Encore things have taken steps backwards... my 5 packs of the "Pledge" & " La Historia" were very good but the 5-pack of "Allegiance" were all rolled very poorly & I was unable to smoke past the initial 3rd..... I even stopped enjoying Oliva cigars because they ruined my beloved EPC... The Encore Black is a cigar I would smoke again if it were given to me however I will not seek it out...

Another gem of a cigar from EPC. It takes Encore to another level. Medium+. Charred oak/wood, earthy, pepper, touch of floral notes, and vanilla cream on the finish. Goes great with a coffee or an old-fashioned drink. The sweetness and balance come through by the 2nd/3rd. Even burn and smooth easy draw. Nice aroma and taste. It was a quick burner so take your time with it. Final 3rd brings out that smoky EPC profile. The original flavors mellow out and becomes easier. But probably could be sold for only a dollar more than the original Encore Majestic. $17 is a bit harsh. Special occasion only cigar.

Hello, I am lucky enough to buy 2 boxes of the Encore Black. Both boxes contained cigars that were very dry. They were not ready to smoke right out of the box. A previous review of this cigar on this website stated his cigars were also very dry. However, I couldn’t wait to smoke a couple of these cigars. The two cigars I smoked were very good. I will smoke the others once they get to proper humidification. I found some reviews from other smokers that had the same comment about the cigars being less than the ideal humidification. Probably give the cigar a better review once they are able to be smoked.

EP Carrillo Encore Black review Arrived yesterday, smoking one today. One day in my humidor with the cello on. Good flavor, no harsh burn, a bit of spice and leather. Nice ash but some uneven burn. That will correct after being in a humidor for a while and aging a bit. At the end of the first 3rd, the uneven burn(canoeing) straightened itself out with no touch up.(quality) Smooth retro hale but can still pick up the spice without harshness, dark espresso Into the 2nd 3rd(halfway) still has a consistent flavor profile. Spice, dark chocolate and earthy and espresso Last 3rd Still has a consistent flavor profile and has an even burn. The ash has remained consistent also. I rarely smoke a stick to the nub and using one finger and thumb to finish the quality smoke. I can see this being a high demand favorite
