Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Featuring the darkest color found in cigar wrappers, maduro leaves are dark brown to almost black in color, and come from the primings furthest up on the plant. Having seen more sun, maduro wrappers tend to be richer and contain more nicotine than their lighter counterparts. Although somewhat intimidating in appearance, do not assume that all maduros are super strong - many can be milder than other types of wrappers, as well as naturally sweeter.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Tobacco is grown in many islands of the Archipelago but, as far as cigars are concerned, Sumatra and Java are the ones. Sumatra Wrappers are worldwide known. Central Java (Vorstenland) and East Java (Besuki) give fillers and wrappers in abundance. Indonesia is a key country for cigar tobacco.

NeptuneCigar.com Richard, the time it takes to smoke will depend on how aggressively you smoke it, but while smoking at an average pace I would say these cigars should give you around a 45-60 minute burn time.

The Maduro version is very different from the Shade wrapper which I also really like. As would be expected the Maduro wrapper gives a darker smoke that goes well with coffee and can be very relaxing. Found this to be more mild than medium. Draw and burn were great along with the amount of smoke. I like a cigar with lots of smoke. But.... the ash was horrible. Best way to describe it is.... it had no structure, very loose and would just falloff. Taste for the first two thirds was good but the last third it got bitter. Glad this was a cheap cigar. I would have hated to pay more for it.

I have gotten this one three times. The first, it was perfect right out of the wrapper and did not need to sit in my humidor. The second batch was not good at all. Even after sitting in my humidor, they would burn a hollow tube on the inside and have a burning draw. The third batch was like the first. Its a chance but not bad for the price.

Certainly my favorite of all the FS range. The Maduro has a nice smoke and a good construction. The draw is perfect and leaves a creamy taste. It will take you about 1 hour to reach the end of a Robusto.

This is a really good value cigar. Good for when you want a smoke but maybe don't have a ton of time or attention to pay to it. Not the most complex or deep flavor-wise but a good enjoyable smoke. I recommend it and continue to buy them to smoke while out in the yard or on the way to work.

The Factory Smokes Maduro's are one of the best values I have found that consistently deliver great flavor and an "everyday" price point. My one complaint is that when cutting it with my guillotine cutter, the cap frequently comes off of the cigar.

solid construction. First half was medium smooth a little sweet wood and cocoa flavors. Second half was stronger slightly bitter espresso flavors. Overall this is a great daily smoke. Hands down the best budget cigar I have smoked. A good "hack" I tried is to store them with a 2inch square of sponge soaked with wild turkey burdon. After 3 weeks, you would think this is a $10 stick. ??

This has been my weekday smoke for a while, and for an inexpensive stick it's OK. The roll is inconsistent with very varied draw; the occasional plugged stick - unsmokable; very ashy/flaky; and it gets fairly tar producing towards the end. Taste is OK which is why I still smoke them, but nothing worth bragging rights. At the end of the day, for about $2 per stick, it's an OK smoke and a good value compared to other cigars in this price range.

The construction is absolutely A+. The wrapper is firm, unblemished, and rough—almost like sandpaper. You won't lose your grip on this one. At no time did the wrap or cap even give the slightest hint of cracking or unbinding. Well done. As to flavor, the first half had me disappointed. The burn, after a couple of touch ups, was even and the ash held firm, but the flavor made me think this should have a white band with black Times New Roman letters: “cigar” Totally generic. Halfway down, though, the flavors started to kick in, We're talking deep, rich earth, mild spice and heavy black pepper. One might be disappointed about the first half being bland, but this is literally a two-dollar cigar. I've paid well over twice the money for FAR worse product. Those on a strict budget might want to give this stick a try.

Pleasant Surprise. Massive 6x60 budget cigar (Under $3). Solid well constructed large stick. Nice wrapper with some imperfections and spots. Overall, I like these smokes. After trying the robusto maduro I decided to give the toro a try. As with the robusto, these sticks are pretty well made, have a nice flavor and although the burn is occasionally erratic, it does fine after a a correction. Best budget smoke for the money. What a disappointment...I am a regular smoker of Factory Smokes Maduro Toro's...the 6 x 60's are nothing like the Toro's...interesting how a size change in the same smoke changes the entire complexion..poorly constructed, uneven burn and even taste totally compromised. Will stick with the Toro's.

Cut put cigar shavings all over myself and the porch. Lit fine. Prodigious smoke output. Puts of aromas that remind me of their Kentucky fire cured. Hickory, umami, perique, licorice/cola on the back end. These flavors die down and it's mostly sweet/savory tobacco through the finish. Retrohales give off hints of coconut/macaroon/graham cookie. Goes one dimensional by the end. Flavors are never bad. Ashes drop quickly, as to be expected. Very solid for the money. That being said, it misses the "richness" or satisfaction that I crave from cigars. Smoked quickly and I wanted to light another. Went great with my Kirkland brand coffee.

Oddly enough, these cigars taste better than the La Estrella Cubana Habano, yet cost $10 per bundle/box less. Pleasant aroma and taste. Even burn and well constructed. For the money of a cheap cigar you can't go wrong.

The All Day Work Smoke. First Burn, 9am-9:10am. Tasty. Second burn, 12:10pm-12:30pm. yeah... still tasty. Third burn, 2:00pm-2:10pm. nummy smack smack. Fourth Burn, 4:45pm-5-15pm, little chunky but bucks up and delivers the final happy bits. All for under a buck fifty. Haven't found a spendier stick to handle this abuse. Most pop the wrapper after the second burn and get all scattered and confused. It is by far my most productive co-worker. Love it.

As far as a cheap cigar goes these can’t be beat for the price. The only problem I’ve had is they can get a little harsh at the end. But I smoke these while mowing or just when I need a cigar I don’t care to let burn out. When you first light up you’ll think you’ve bought a $5-6 stick, and to be honest at this price point you can’t go wrong.

I recommend these cigars. They are smooth medium cigars with a pleasant complexity. I've bought 2 bundles and will buy more. Let them sit in your humidor for a few months and they get even better. They are not the best cigars you'll find, but they are liked by many regulars at my local lounge. For the price, you can't beat them.

These are a notch better (in my humble opinion) than the Drew Estate Factory "Shade" with the natural wrappers. I wish I would have ordered more of these, but I bought more of the natural wrapper and they just are not very good. For the money, these have a much better appearance, aroma and taste. I'd order these again. They won't make you feel guilty if you can't finish it and have to leave it in an ash tray due to time restraints, etc.

I was surprised at the difference in taste between the Maduro Factory Smokes 6x60 (which I bought and tried first) and the 6x52. The bigger ring size seems to be a better balance of taste; the 52 seeming stronger in flavor and less nuanced. Nonetheless, the 52 is a great bargain. Easy draw, burns even, nice ash. Bold Maduro flavor. If you handed this to someone and asked him or her to guess the cost, it's a safe bet they would pick a price triple that charged. I bought bundles of each.
