For his 60th birthday, cigar entrepreneur Rocky Patel crafted the Sixty by Rocky Patel to not only celebrate his milestone birthday, but to share his passion for tobacco, and the fine craft of cigarmaking with aficionados. The tobaccos used for this commemorative stick have been aged for at least six years prior to rolling. Once rolled, the cigars were allowed to age for a minimum of two years so that their flavors could marry. Rocky and his team of expert blenders went through 145 different combinations before finally settling on the ideal blend for the Sixty. This specially selected blend features a delicious, dark chocolatey, oily Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper that envelops a binder and filler made of Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Sixty offers a smooth, balanced smoking experience with a rich complexity you will want to savor on special occasions or just because. The Sixty by Rocky Patel is handmade at Rocky’s Tabacalera Villa Cuba S.A. (TAVICUSA) in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).
Wrapper
Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Rocky sticks are an enigma to me. I have had a couple I loved and a couple not so much. I have also encountered real inconsistency in the same sticks. This one is good, not great and is definitely over priced. Flavor of light cocoa and wood are nice but muted. Swing and a miss for me.

This right here is a pure treat! Not an everyday smoke, but indeed something you light up when you want to treat yourself or celebrate a milestone. Loaded with flavors of chocolate, leather and a sprinkle of cedar and spice that makes everything more than nice! Burn was excellent with no touch-ups needs. First time having a Bala but 6th time having a Sixty by Rocky Patel. This version definitely has more of a punch than the normal toro 6x60. Stronger notes of coffee and leather. Pricey but good. However, in the future I'll stick with the toro size and box-pressed shape.

I’m not a huge RP fan. I often feel their cigar wrappers standout more than the cigars themselves. I kept hearing great things about this cigar and had to try it out. It did not disappoint! This time I went for something I don’t usually smoke, this cigar was rated one of the top 5 cigars of 2022 which peaked my interest. Rocky Patel loves to celebrate any big milestone and for his 60th birthday he unveiled this cigar. It is a boxed pressed cigar and the first note that immediately hit me once I lit this bad boy up was chocolate. The chocolate comes in from start to finish and has undertones of coffee, Earthy, nut and a very slight spice. I am not usually a fan of spice in cigars but I have to say this was one of my favorite new smokes and I have already stashed some in my humidor. I smoked this cigar with an espresso iced coffee and I haven’t enjoyed a cigar this much in a while.

This is one of those sticks that I would have been more excited about smoking, had I known what it had in store. To start, it has a very nice looking dark, oily wrapper and smells of rich earth and leather. Very well constructed too with effortless draw and pretty good burn (1 touch up near the end.) The taste is heavy leather, cocoa and spice that builds as you make your way through the experience. Definitely will be buying one of these to put away for a while.

At 60 Rocky Patel has arrived! This cigar is flavorful, balanced and smooth. It’s medium bodied to start but it ends full bodied and the strength really ramps up the final third as well. It stays smooth and balanced til the end…I believe those who like medium bodied cigars will like this as well. It’s definitely Rocky Patel’s most complex and flavorful cigar. Very good cigar

Disappointed with this one! The cigar was not very firm, too spongy to the touch. Almost like they didnot fill completely. Almost broke it when I tried to use a hole punch. Tasted good, but burned too fast, for an 18 dollar cigar I expect more. I will not be sending these to my brother for his 60th birthday.

A new favorite, I love it. Excellent draw with a shallow v-cut and a pretty consistent burn. Neptune is pretty spot on with the flavor profile. Attractive bands but you do have to remove most of them up front to light the cigar. Small price to pay for this treasure.

A great celebratory cigar. Full body with notes of chocolate, pepper and earth. A strong cigar with a nice oily wrapper. Worth a try if you're feeling fancy.

Never have been a big Rocky fan, but received this as part of a bundle. After I smoked it, I bought a box. That tells you what you need to know, especially if you like a creamy full-bodied smoke!

Surprisingly good for a RP - reminded me of sort of a mix in flavor between the Olivia Melanio Maduro and the Plasencia Alma Fuerte line (which is probably about right, considering the price-point between the two). Definitely a refined smoothness due to the aged tobacco, but still quite bakers-chocolately. Gets spicier in the 2nd half and beyond. The first 25% was really a 5-star experience. Would consider buying again if they stick around. The over-banding (3 separate bands occupying 75% of the stick) is kind of absurd, but that's marketing.

This is a fabulous cigar. Of course it is out of my price range for regular consumption but I will definitely buy it again. It had a gentle sweet taste, My disappointment with the cigar, it ended too quickly. Can’t wait to buy another one or more.

When you want to create a cigar to celebrate a milestone event (like your sixtieth birthday), you had better use nothing but top-shelf tobacco. Well, the Sixty by Rocky Patel is just that. So, naturally, I had to smoke it in honor of Rocky Patel, a survivor and a thriver of the 90s cigar boom, whose passion for cigars is well-known. From its eye-catching, fully-dressed multi-bands to its mouthwatering Mexican San Andres wrapper this stick told me I was in for a treat. The construction was firm but with a little play. The aroma of the body and foot was all tobacco sweetness with hints of earth. The draw was all flow. The first few puffs greeted me with nothing but tobacco sweetness and aroma. Entering the second third, I picked up some noticeable spicy notes and the aroma shifted slightly to earthy and barnyard. The retro-hale was peppery and the finish was spicy. The smoke was wispy. It had a dark ash, but the burn was sharp. Into the final third, the tobacco sweetness came back accompanied by some grassy notes. Overall, this celebratory stick can be enjoyed on a special occasion or just because. I paired it with an Earl Grey tea made of leaves from Ceylon, without milk or sugar, to heighten the cigar’s strength.
