Warped Cigars founder Kyle Gellis always searches for “firsts” when creating one of his boutique cigars. With the Warped Chinchalle he discovered two. The Chinchalle is the first cigar Warped has produced in the Dominican Republic during its ten-year history. This medium to full-bodied premium cigar sports an enticing dark Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper draped over a Dominican HVA binder and long-filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. “Chinchalle” is Cuban slang for a very small factory. As for the second first? The Chinchalle is the first cigar released by Tabacalera La Isla, which is owned and operated by Hostos Fernandez Quesada. Hostos has been in the cigar industry for twenty years and is the nephew of Manuel “Manolo” Quesada of the famed Quesada Cigars. Located in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Tabacalera La Isla was established in 2020.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

I really loved this cigar. It had a lot of bread notes, Cedar and cinnamon. It reminded me alot of the Andalusian Bull by LFD but in a more manageable size !! Highly recommend

Was excited to try this one. Construction, draw and burn were very good. Started off as a pepper bomb in the first half inch but then found the flavors to be too muted for my preference. Was some cream and some sweet notes but not really much going on flavor wise. Was very suprised as I had heard great things about this cigar.

Got this Gem at the Big Smoke Meets WhiskeyFest event and MY GOODNESS!!! I've been sleeping clearly, but I am now AWAKE! Incredibly smooth stick that is palatable for both the beginner and the aficionado - as a typical Nicaraguan Maduro guy, I will admit that typically this is not my first pick in a humidor based on appearance & bio, but that is certainly changed now. MUST HAVE in the humidor! Easy draw, smooth, big smoke, and a subtly flavorful stick.

A rather unbelievable and complex creation. I am a Nicaraguan tobacco zealot and have shied away from Dominican tobacco, but this was worth a try. Phenomenal cigar by Kyle Gellis, with the manual labor and rolling sub-contracted to La Isla and done perfectly! Perfect burn, no issues to denigrate quality of the smoking adventure. Don’t rush through this stick! Initial flavor, with a half-inch of ash is a brief twinge of sweetness like Pine or Cedar which gives way to a more than medium flavor of richness with hints of earth, hazelnut, and freshness like the Summer air after a quick rain storm. The retro-hale is smooth, to burn or harsh irritant. My only point other is that a 6x54 size is hoped for, I will continue the 5x50 smokes until then. Clearly a 92-94, perhaps higher. This fine cigar is a Top Contender CAf. For 2022. As always, Kudos to Neptune and certainly to Kyle Gellis for this beauty!
