The Las Calaveras Edición Limitada 2025 continues Crowned Heads’ annual tribute series, honoring loved ones through the spirit of Día de los Muertos. Crafted at My Father Cigars in Estelí, it's wrapped in a rare mid-priming Mexican San Andrés leaf with a lighter Colorado hue, resting over Nicaraguan binder and filler. This nuanced blend emphasizes coffee, espresso, and toffee over earth and spice and is offered in four sizes, including a Petit Lancero sampler.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

My Father Cigars manufactures handmade premium cigars in Miami and Esteli, Nicaragua. The company is owned and operated by Don Pepin, his son Jaime, and his daughter Janny. The "Garcia Family Industrial Park" located in Esteli, Nicaragua is a seven-acre complex with 9 buildings, over 1900 employees, where the Garcias supervise their cigar production from the tobacco field to the roller's table. Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

Very firm construction, a bit of a tight draw that loosened up some about halfway through. Super even burn with no touchups needed. Medium bodied and very toothy with lots of thick, rich smoke output and flavors of woodsy cedar, mushroom earthiness, dark chocolate bittersweetness and touch of peppery spice that intensified in the last third. A very fine cigar.

Good cigar. This year features a MSA wrapper (last few years have been Ecuador Habano). Similar flavors of cocoa, coffee, wood, sweetness and leather, with orange citrus that is common in blend. Some pepper but not enough. While I normally prefer MSA wrapped cigars, especially Colorado, I do like the 2024 and Decimo versions more. Still, glad I tried
