The Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Connecticut is the company’s first limited edition cigar for which they have reserved their fines 12 year old tobaccos, first bale aged for 10 years and then aged in white oak bourbon barrels for two more years. Released in July 2014, the Double Aged 12 Year Vintage Connecticut will be followed by two more releases, in Sun Grown and Maduro wrappers, respectively. The band on the cigar describes the smoke as “a smooth smoke with a creamy complexity, slight hints of caramel and cedar, with a rich, buttery finish”.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Claro wrapper is light, yellowish brown in color.

Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Nick, who opened his cigar company in his garage, now oversees over 2000 employees and an 88,000 sq ft factory in Nicaragua. Perdomo cigars are well known all over the world.

I had high hopes! I’m always looking for a quality Connecticut shade grown that’s smooth and flavorful. I like Nick Perdomo so I was hoping for the best but it was just okay. The first third was good but it went the wrong direction from there, finishing with disappointment. Not going to replace the old reliables in the mild/medium category. I have a Maduro Toro in this line and am hoping it’s more my profile

This started off with a difficult draw. RH was 68 and 70F so it should have been better. The burn had some runners at first but straightened out halfway through. Draw improved slightly near the last third. But the flavor got a little harsh by then unfortunately. Nice looking cigar for sure but smokability could be better. Not bad by any means but not anything to rave about.

This stick is getting placed on my go to list. It's a very easy feel on your pallet and has good flavor. No one flavor stands out among the rest with this cigar. This is a gorgeous cigar. From the band to the delicate CT wrapper every aspect works in perfect harmony from the visual and tactile perspective... even the delicate white ash works to augment during the smoke. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the impressions given in the flavor department. There is an odd and I mean really odd juxtaposition from this one in the taste department. Smooth and rich high end butter comes through as if you are bathing your palate in it. Also present, however, is this aged citrus, cheap reconstituted lemon flavor that makes an equally pronounced showing. Remember the product ReaLemon? It came in a jar and might remain in the fridge for years before you got around the throwing out half the bottle. This is a shame since a complimentary flavor or even just the butter taste would have made this an unforgettable smoke. As it is the lemon law applies and despite its many other attributed drops this stick to an 89.
