The Asylum brand is known for pushing the envelope either by crafting long and thick cigars (like their April Fool’s cigar measuring 9”*90) or by using rare and exquisite tobacco such as Corojo. Their Asylum Sensorium does both. It is offered as a perfecto and in a big ring gauge vitola. This Honduran puro uses “Authentic Cojoro” (a proprietary tobacco grown by the Eiroa family), but its filler also includes Pinareno Cuban-seed tobacco. This tobacco is rarely used because it is extremely prone to ravishing tobacco diseases such as blue mold. But when employed, Pinareno tobacco adds a deep complexity to the cigar’s profile and creates a stimulating smoking sensation that will not only please your palate but awaken it to new flavor possibilities.

One of my favorites
This cigar is just different! I bought it for that reason, because of what people said about it. I don't want all my cigars tasting the same. This is on the stronger side yet smooth.

I enjoy most of the cigars from Christian Eiroa’s portfolio. Nearly all of my regular smokes are from CLE. The Sensorium is easily the best cigar to bear the Asylum label. To my palate, it’s also the most full bodied. The draw and burn are impeccable. Flavor notes are primarily espresso and leather, with a sweet back note - something almost fruity I can’t put my finger in. Delicious and balanced. Is it worth the price? That’s up to the smoker. I did feel like the wrapper, which had cracked a couple places due to banging around inside the coffin, lacked the presentation I would expect for a cigar in this price range. That said, the cracking did not affect the performance, as the cigar required only a single touch up midway through. This is extremely well aged tobacco. I plan to buy a few more, one to smoke right away and more to park in the humi, as I believe these will age exceptionally well.
Big pice tag, but one of the few I can say genuinely warrants it for a special occasion. Never had a cigar like this one. Definitely worth a try.
