El Reloj (in Spanish, "the clock") cigar is named after J.C. Newman's cigar factory in Tampa where he started rolling cigars in 1954. The El Reloj factory with its famous four-sided clock built in 1910, was a focal point of the Ybor City, Tampa community in a time when most people did not own clocks or watches. In honor to this building that hosts the last operating cigar factory in Tampa, JC Newman has made this value priced cigar with quality fillers from Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras, wrapped in a rich Ecuador Havana Seed Sungrown wrapper.

They are still being produced in the last remaining cigar factory from the 1890s, the JC Newman Cigar factory in Tampa. However, in recent years boutique brands have flourished and are being handmade by select rollers in Miami, Florida.
