Destined to be a timeless treasure, Warped Cigars’ Maestro del Tiempo is handmade by Casa Fernandez in Nicaragua. Made of 100% Aganorsa tobacco, the Maestro del Tiempo is a medium- to full-bodied puro. The Jalapa Corojo ’99 wrapper is elegantly draped over a Nicaraguan binder which houses a Corojo ’99 and Criollo ’98 filler. Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Corojo wrapper was first developed in Cuba in the 1930s and quickly became popular as the wrapper on some of the best cigars. By the end of the 90s, Cuba stopped growing Corojo wrapper because of its susceptibility to pests and diseases. Ironically, Corojo wrapper has since become more popular outside of Cuba, as it has been replicated in tobacco farms in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

This is one of the better cigars I've smoked in recent memory. Admittedly I am a big fan of Warped cigars. The Maestro del Tiempo flavors are complex and what I'd consider somewhat "old school". Construction is excellent and draw is just slightly tighter than I prefer. It is a tightly rolled, solid feeling cigar. Burn line was nearly perfect throughout. The first half has notes of nuts, cedar, white pepper and just the distinct flavor of quality tobacco. The second half is cedar, nuts, white pepper, baking spices and a slightly sweet and subtle earthy note. I highly recommend this cigar.

Delicious! So tasty and complex, but the draw was a little tight. Initially, the burn was perfect. Then came the re-lights and Perfectdraw. Constantly. It was rested at 66% rh, then last 2 wks dropped it to 65%. I'll try dry boxing next time. Call me crazy, but even after all this I'd say it's box worthy!

Starts off with a blast of pepper and spice, but calms down revealing a creamy gingerbread note. Although the cherry is somewhat lazy, requiring a double puff to wake up, didnt require a relight. Recommended for the seasoned afficionado!

Amazing Cigar, very “Cubanesque” flavor. Strong nutty notes up front which dominate throughout. The nuttiness phases in and out of salty notes. The highlight for me is a rich, cream note with accents of caramel and an almost gingerbread tone that, in the past, I’ve only found in Cuban cigars. The construction is everything I’ve come to expect from Kyle Gellis and Warped. The burn was solid and only one very minor correction was needed.

Nice little stick. Flavors are a little less concentrated than the lancero size, but still very good. A little more earth and leathery than the lancero, but still has some of the maple sweetness on the retro. The Maestro del Tiempo blend and flavor profile is outstanding.

Very unique smoke. This is one of my favorite cigars regardless of price. Has a graham cracker and candied maple sweetness to it - especially on the retro. Very concentrated and delicious flavors. Medium strength. Burn can be a little off, but it self corrects - not uncommon for a lancero. Love this smoke. Highly recommend.

Pre light draw: Mix if cedar, nuts and honey. 1/3: Red pepper, nuttiness, floral notes, cedar, slight sweetness, cream and honey. Red pepper dies and is replaced by a light white pepper. 2/3: Fruitiness, leather, nuts, honey, sweet tobacco. First ash drops about 40 minutes in. 3/3: Wood, nuts, floral notes and a touch of cinnamon. Second and final ash drops just over a hour in. Final smoke time was 1 hour and 18 minutes. Great construction, sharp burn and a nice amount of smoke output. Draw was a little tight on the 2nd half. Overall I enjoyed this smoke and it’s worth a try. However, sticking with the Warped portfolio, I would pay a couple bucks more and go for the Don Reynaldo Regalos over this.

Seriously delicious smoke that Cigar Mojo named cigar of the year for 2016! Pretty hefty honor! Had to try it and did not disappoint. Both the aromatics and flavors are perfectly potent and inviting. I love Lanceros and the flavors here are intensified, the draw has a perfect amount of resistance, and the burn is good. No complaints here!
