The EP Carrillo Allegiance cigar brand is dedicated to the strong bonds formed between tobacco growers and cigar makers and the lifelong friendships made by everyone in the industry. EP Carrillo Cigars will develop the blends for the Allegiance brand, and other top-name cigar makers will produce the cigars. For the first release, Carrillo collaborated with the Oliva Cigar Co.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

Ecuadorian Sumatra-Seed
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Oliva Cigar Co.
Oliva Cigar Company is Nicaragua's second largest grower of tobacco and one of the largest cigarmakers in the world. It all started in 1886 when Melanio Oliva first grew tobacco in Cuba. In 1995, his grandson Gilberto Oliva would launch the Oliva cigar brand, produced in Esteli, Nicaragua. The company's flagship brand, Oliva Serie V, has obtained some of the highest ratings in cigar publications worldwide. Their cigars use mostly tobacco harvested by the company in their various farms in Nicaragua.

I pledge allegiance to the Allegiance! Wow, lets just start off by saying EP Carrillo never misses with his releases. I have yet to come across a bad smoke from his blends, and personally this one might sit up top 3 from the brand, sitting along side the Pledge, and Encore! From first glance you notice a light box press and some veins with a vibrant green and gold band and footer that really catches your eye off the shelf. Within the first couple draws upon lighting this stick I was met with a combination of deep cedar and black coffee notes. After getting about a quarter of the way through you start to feel more of that white pepper on the retro hale. As always with any Carrillo, the construction seems to never fall short. A very smooth and clean draw from start to finish almost 100% of the time when lighting up one of these bad boys. Now some cigars have a very one dimensional flavor profile, but this one will leave you amazed with how it transitions from mainly cedar and pepper to a smooth toasted almond profile. Finally as you make your way through the home stretch one final change in flavor from almond to expresso is heavily noticeable and will keep you smoking till you're burning your finger tips. The EP Carrillo Allegiance Confidant is a terrific addition to the famed Family Series by Carrillo, and you should make sure to add it to your humidor rotation today.

First of all the allegiance is one of my favorite Carrillo cigars. Unfortunately this size had problems. Like other reviewers I too had burn problems. Started fine but even before the first 3rd was fine it tunneled something terrible. Nothing could save it. It was then of course hot and spongy. Disappointing. 70F and RH was at 67 so it was not over humidified. I won’t buy this size again and hope other allegiance sizes don’t repeat this one.

My first out of 3 Allegiance does NOT live up to the E.P. Carrillo standard!! I have loved E.P. Carrillo cigars since they first came onto the Premium cigar scene!! I smoked Core+ & Selection Obscuro daily... this stick looked very nice & I was super excited to sample Carrillo's newest offering!! The wrapper had a very faint barnyard aroma while the foot delivered very faint hay & cedar faint but nice aroma.... Xikar V-cut the dry-draw gave cedar & an aroma I was unable to classify The first draw was very heavy cedar which was alright at first but I was hoping to get notes of both sweet & hearty tobbacco that Carrillo sticks are known for however the cedar turned quite bitter & as I tried to finish the first third it began tunneling so I put the stick down very puzzled because I have NEVER had a Carrillo cigar do this... Very disappointing yet I have 2 more that I will allow to rest in the humidor

This is a very good cigar. I’m continually impressed with EP Carrillo and this cigar builds on their great line of cigars. It has a great burn, draw and smoke. I sensed a nutty cedar taste at first, with coffee and cocoa hints on the last half. Definitely will smoke this regularly and recommend it highly.

Nice burn, not as good as the encore...or pledge, but worth a go. Earthy and abit of waffer taste.

I tried this mainly because of the EP Carrillo name. Sadly, that is where the excitement ends. Pretty boring cigar with an almost 'chalky' texture. One note and barely approaches the medium strength level. EP has so many other quality offerings in his stable I doubt I'll revisit this one.

I am a big fan of EP Carrillo. I really like this cigar. I think it’s going to be very highly rated. Plenty of flavor without without a strong aftertaste. Burns evenly with a smooth draw.

All due respect to the Carrillo family… you have created and done better with prior offerings. Frankly, the best I can say is that the Green version is beautiful and imbues an assumption of bold flavor… which I did not discover. The aroma on toasting prior to light was minimally discernible. The flavor, overall, is something that I am still waiting for .. I expected better. It is a good cigar if your preference is for relatively mild and mundane. Still, however, this does not minimize my appreciation for what the Carrillo family have created in the past and likely shall in the future. I see this stick in the 86-88 range, maybe.
