The H. Upmann The Banker Daytrader was inspired by the brand’s founder, who was a 19th Century banker turned cigar crafter, and the fast-paced world of banking and finance. The Daytrader’s packaging features the “candlestick charts” used by stock traders. The cigar features an inviting, reddish Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper placed over a Nicaraguan binder and a filler made of Dominican Republic and Nicaraguan leaves. The blend was created by the Grupo de Maestros of Tabacalera de Garcia in the Dominican Republic. The Daytrader provides a smooth medium-bodied smoking experience that is definitely a sound box-worthy investment.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Ecuadorian Sumatra-Seed
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

My Thoughts Overall, I found the H. Upmann Banker Day Trader pretty good. This was my first time smoking it, and it left a solid impression. The combination of smooth draw, balanced flavor, and clean burn makes it a satisfying and reliable cigar. While I’m not fully convinced it’s box-worthy just yet, it’s definitely one I’ll purchase again to revisit. It strikes a great balance between flavor, construction, and price — a dependable smoke that fits comfortably in the medium-bodied category and delivers good value for what it offers.

One hell of a cigar! Amazing quality and very smooth draw with an even burn all around. Nice notes of pepper, spices, and cedar. Pairs great with a stout & red wine.

The flavor didn't entirely agree with me but I can't fault the excellent construction of this one. Nice full draw and even steady burn. To me it was heavy on leather and wood with underlying baking spices. A bit pricy perhaps but it performed nicely.

I bought the Daytrader because I really like The Banker. The Daytrader is rated as a medium and The Banker is rated as medium as well. But the Daytrader is milder than The Banker with hint of pepper and spice taste. The smoke is lighter on the tongue. I had tough time keeping the cigar burning evenly, but that could be me. If you found The Banker a little heavier than you like, the Daytrader might be what you need. I paired it with a Bourbon and water and the Bourban was a bit spicier than the cigar. But still it was a very pleasant experience.
