The Kafie 1901 San Andres is part of this popular brand’s sought-after 1901 line. Its long-fillers leaves come from three of Nicaragua’s top tobacco producing regions: Condega, Esteli, and Jalapa. A Nicaraguan binder holds the fillers together, which in turn is covered by an oily, dark Mexican San Andres wrapper that has been aged for 5 years and undergone a double fermentation process to enhance its flavors. This three-nation blend offers a potent but not overwhelming smoking experience coupled with a deep complexity of flavors.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Very good smoke but has a few short comings. Not a huge fan of box pressed cigars but overlooked it due to awesome flavor and draw of this stick. After smoking a box of 20, I've had 2-4 that didn't burn even when lightning or ran and required touch up several times. However taste was amazing and full of smoke.

Kafie 1901 is a very nice smoke. Wrapper, ash, burn, aroma and taste are just this side of excellent. Pricing seems to be consistent with the value of the stick. I will probably buy again.

Pleasant surprise. Good flavors, creamy, not harsh, strength is not for novice. Enjoyable, fair amount of transitions. For the money, I would prefer more flavors then the strength kick at the end. But it might be just right if you like that kind of profile.
