The Joya de Nicaragua Antano CT is a medium-bodied stick that is hand rolled in Nicaragua. Its claro Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The Joya de Nicaragua Antano CT has a creamy profile that is accented with a spicy note.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Claro wrapper is light, yellowish brown in color.

Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Excellent burn and construction, solid chunks of ash, really loose draw, and tons of creamy smoke. Started off sweet, nutty, toasty, with buttery notes too. Slight spice in the background throughout the whole smoke. Towards the 2nd half of the smoke, flavors became more savory, sweetness remained, but coffee notes became strong. It remained that way all the way down to the nub. A totally decent cigar! Solid medium minus strength, can definitely feel a buzz smoking this! But not overpowering.

This CT measures up to some of the best Connecticut wrapped cigars I’ve ever smoked! Creamy, is an understatement! It’s creamy, very creamy, roasted nuts and fresh saw dust. Professionally wrapped with no veins. Is this cigar spicy? It is medium bodied, not mild at all, medium. The aroma is mesmerizing! Oh so good!

I'm not a fan of mild/medium smokes, especially claro wrappers. However, this offering claims to be the same blend as the Añtano 1970, so I scored a box. Now being down to my last 5, I admit I've become rather fond it. It's got the right amount of bite and machismo to keep my receptors satisfied. The wrapper brings a pleasant nuttiness to the palate which marries quite well crisp IPA or dry Saíson. If you're a fan of mild/medium smokes, take this to venture out a bit into a bolder territory. If you're a kindred spirit, try it for a tamer experience with sufficient bite that can be retro-haled all the way through.

A 5-Star cigar from appearance to performance to flavor! Wow! Joya de Nicaragua has blown us away again with this beautiful offering: an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapped version of the Antano line that is both excellent and moderately priced. Binder and filler are Nicaraguan and the flavors you expect from a Joya de Nicaragua are there, but a bit less powerful and with lots more creaminess. If you love some pepper, some nuttiness, and creamy texture in your smoke, this cigar is for you. You can smoke it any time of day, pair it with anything you want, the medium body and complexity of this stick lends itself to just about any situation. Thanks to Joya de Nicaragua for 50+ years of making excellent cigars!

This is one beautiful cigar, flawless construction, fantastic wrapper and perfect draw! But what it’s lacking is the creamy flavors one would expect from such a finely crafter beauty like this. It’s a shame that Joya neglected this part!

Very nice smoke. Smooth, medium, creamy, not too spicy but with enough flavors to keep it interesting from start to finish. Good cigar for a beginner willing to experiment tastes above mellow or infused cigars, but still enjoyable as a morning stick for an experienced smoker (great with coffee).

Soft welcoming wrapper, draw extremely open have to regulate carefully you draws or will burn quick. Flavors are creamy coffee with some spices. Medium but with some kick to it. Was pretty decent, just prefer the corona of this, draw is more firm

Initial taste is a light sweet caramel with a faint white pepper tingle on the tongue. Plenty of smoke, good draw, solid white ash that drops in 1-1/2” chunks. Midpoint sweetness and pepper gone now roasted cashews, leather on finish. A great stick with my coffee! I’ll be buying more.

I didn’t experience any spice to this cigar but it was very smooth and never went past medium in strength.

Great looking cigar with a clean Connecticut wrapper and Nicaraguan filler. This cigar was packed pretty firm with tobacco. Pre-light draw: Sweet wood, graham cracker, nutty. Single torch flame lit this stick up evenly and off to a great burn. 1/3: Initial flavor was a big pepper kick right off the bat. Spicy wood and salty leather were also distinguishable flavors. After a few minutes the pepper tones way down. I was able to pick up a dough like flavor, dry smoke, yet creamy taste. Slight fruitiness was picked up on the retrohale and lingered around on the finish. As the cigar progressed, the nuttiness from the pre-light appeared, along with what tasted like lemon zest. Very smooth and balanced smoke thus far. Spice has subsided and can pick up just a bit of pepper on the finish. Through the first third, the ash is nice and white, burn is pretty straight and the smoke output is great. 2/3: Spice has mellowed even more, creamy wood and bread on the forefront. Flavor has been very consistent, more salty, creamy and some tangy fruit finish. First ash gently drops into my ashtray just over 30 minutes in. 3/3: Wood has taken over as the predominant flavor, with some cinnamon, yeast and salt in the background. Faint pepper on the aftertaste. 2nd ash drops off at the hour marker. Salty cracker, leather and more wood finish this stick out. Very balanced blend and a smooth smoke that I enjoyed down to the nub. Smoke time was 1 hour and 15 minutes. Draw was perfect, burn was sharp, no touch ups required. No major transitions on this one, flavors stayed fairly consistent All the way through. Medium body, medium flavor. Great morning or afternoon smoke. Definitely worth a try.

Love this size. The construction of this cigar was very good and i prefer the tapered ends on cigars like this belicoso has. Its alot of smoke output medium body, strength trending towards full even with a lighter wrapper. lots of creaminess to it, some spice, hint of fruit, meatiness, and bread like note to it at times. The outside has a welcoming sponginess to it, but not overly spongy, Don't let the wrapper fool you, this is a stronger cigar.

great little smoke. nice aroma coming off it, lots of creamy coffee. I do not normally smoke cigars with lighter wrappers like this, but this one is more medium then mild and very smooth overall. This could be a go to morning smoke to start the day with your coffee or beverage of choice
