Frustrated with no longer being allowed to smoke Liga Privada due to short supply, the torcedores at La Gran Fabrica de Tabacos Drew Estate came up with their own blend that uses many of the same rare tobaccos, but of different vintages and primings, as the Liga Privada. The powers that be at Drew Estate were so impressed with the blend they have released it as Liga Undercrown in 2011.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Maduro
Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).
Wrapper
Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.
Binder
Habano Connecticut
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Habano Connecticut is a Cuban-seed tobacco that is grown and cultivated using traditional Cuban methods. The tobacco is grown under shade to give it a light-brown color.
Filler
Brazil Mata Fina
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Brazil produces rich, medium to strong, dark tobaccos with a sweet taste and aroma. Most of the cigar production is concentrated on the eastern coast of Brazil, in the state of Bahia. Mata Fina tobacco is grown in a region in the Reconcavo Basin of the State of Bahia called Mata Fina (which translated means "thin plants"). Tobacco was one of the natural crops in the region.
Nicaraguan Habano
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

I was surprised by the rich smoke volume of this small sized cigar. Before lighting, it smells like tea, and after lighting, it starts with the aroma of chocolate. The ash is white and hard, a sign of good quality. It lasted an hour and a half without relighting with my smoking style.

Great construction. Some minor retouching along the way. Flavors are on the woody side with dark slightly bitter cocoa and aged tobacco in the background. I got no sweetness and a mild (jalapeno) pepper in retrohale. 2 or 3 transitions with last third more flavorful and a noticeable nicotine kick that's not overpowering. Good with a nice bourbon.

A must try if you like the flavor profile of the liga 9. Excellent construction, medium plus flavors and minus in strength. Very enjoyable from start to finish. This cigar is, based on price, taste and marketing, one saves for a special occasion. The construction and appearance as one might expect from Drew Estate is top notch for the Flying Pig. Initial light required some due diligence due to construction and end cut but nothing that detracts. The worst part of this smoke is the initial impressions which are overwhelmingly seasoned wood and iodine with a bit of chocolate mixed in. Thankfully this transitions quickly to a rich earthy and compost component with the iodine becoming a complimentary flavor rather than one which stood to ruin the experience as it was want to do on first light. As others have mentioned this is one stout old boar and I found myself, despite smoking premiums for forty years, having to nurse the last third to prevent from being overwhelmed. I recommend this have a place in your humidor for appropriate special occasions. An uneven burn mid way through did not detract from my score: 92

This is truly a poor man's Liga Privada No 9. Not as finely constructed or flavorful, but for the about 1/2 the price, you get about 70% of the goodness. That's a great bargain to me. This has become my favorite Maduro-wrappered stick.

I have smoked the larger size of this cigar and it it one of my favorites. I like it even better that the Liga Privadas. This is a great 45 minute smoke.

These are great smokes. FUll of rich dark chocolate and coffee flavors. So glad these come in the smalle RG as I don't prefer larger cigars. I've let thes rest for almost a yer and they are smoking fantastic. Great value and packed with full flavor.

Well constructed Cigar with nice underlying flavor profile. Comparison to Liga Privada is fair like if this stick was rated a 7 -8 on a 0 - 10 scale. The real Liga Privada on the same scale would be rated IMHO over the 10 at top of scale. Honeslty at about 50% of the cost for the Real Ligs Privada T -52, I would call this a GREAT Cigar for the price.

Purchased kind of as a novelty, who can resist "smoked pork" ;-) and really enjoyed the cigar. Lots of flavor - Great taste - Easy draw Smooth the entire burn, Pecan pie, Coconut cream pie were the two flavors I got. Will order a couple more to keep for a special occasion. I clipped the tail more than I should have, next one will just cut the very end and I think it will be even better. Overall - I liked it It is a short (pun intended) smoke.

Simply stunning cigar, beautiful appearance and construction. It smokes extremely well with a fantastic draw and even burn. The taste is sublime from start to finish. One of those cigars you never want to end.

Slightly stronger and, as a result, slightly more flavour than the Connecticut Shade variation. With Puritos you need a bit more flavour. Not bad at all.

this stick is definitely a go to smoke now. the smoke is super thick and creamy with chocolaty; leather/earthy flavor. consistent excellent burn and flavor throughout . its appearance is flawless and felt good in my hands, a solid cigar. I usually go for a spicier full bodied smoke, but this one was not spicy but excellent with a cabernet

This is a solid cigar, but I would rather smoke the No.9 or T52 (of course the cost can add up quickly though). These are a good cheaper alternative, and I prefer the flying pig vitola over all the others in the undercrown series.
