Frustrated with no longer being allowed to smoke Liga Privada due to short supply, the torcedores at La Gran Fabrica de Tabacos Drew Estate came up with their own blend that uses many of the same rare tobaccos, but of different vintages and primings, as the Liga Privada. The powers that be at Drew Estate were so impressed with the blend they have released it as Liga Undercrown in 2011.

The Drew Estate Traditional 6-Cigar Sampler is one hand-picked ensemble you do not want to miss. Each sampler comes with three of Drew Estate’s most sought-after cigars. Each specially designed “petaca” (Spanish for cigar case) contains two-each, toro-sized: Herrera Esteli Habano – a medium bodied cigar with a very Cuban-style flavor and aroma. Liga Undercrown Connecticut Shade – a medium bodied cigar that delivers a smooth, rich creamy smoking experience. Liga Undercrown Maduro – a potent, full-bodied cigar with a noticeable spicy profile and underscored with a pleasing tobacco sweetness. Each of these must-have sticks are handmade at the La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Like the other Drew Estate set, it's fun to get these sticks in new sizes. Everyone should try these once.
For a sub $10 maduro robusto, this is something to write home about.
Rich and earthy, with dark cocoa, coffee, and a touch of sweetness. A little pepper keeps it lively without taking over. A satisfying smoke that delivers plenty of flavor.
Excellent cigar an amazing alternative to Liga
this is the perfect size, especially for the undercrown, held the ash all the way to the label!
One of the best maduros for the money. Great flavors from the Brazil leafs
Great smoke, similar to Liga at a budget price
Wow, these little things are great for a shorter smoke, tasty, complex, and well made

Liga Privada Undercrown Maduro Robusto This cigar flat-out impressed me. If you love the No. 9, pay attention. It has that same dark, rich Liga character, just dialed back a notch in both flavor and strength. And the smoke output is ridiculous — little effortless puffs produce huge clouds. Exactly what I want from a cigar. I did have one knock: the cap came off on me toward the end. Fortunately, it stayed together enough to smoke it right down to the nub. Hopefully just a one-off. At $8.75, though? This is damn near a daily-driver No. 9. It doesn’t replace the No. 9, but it’s close enough that I’m not burning through No. 9s on a Tuesday night anymore. Already glad I bought five. If the other four hold together, I’ll be buying these by the box.
