To accomplish his task, Puentes used the positive selection method, which involved taking the best seeds, regenerating them, and finally taking the best seeds from the best plants. However, these “positive seeds” were smuggled out of Cuba and end up in tobacco-growing countries such as Ecuador and Nicaragua. The “negative” or bad seeds were left in Cuba and in the hands of the Devil, a.k.a. Fidel Castro. The cigars feature a savory Ecuadorian Corojo maduro wrapper that expertly covers a binder and filler made of premium Nicaraguan tobacco. To enhance its flavor profile, the cigar’s delicious wrapper was aged for two years prior to rolling.
