The Punch Gran Puro is an affordable, medium-bodied Honduran puro manufactured by General Cigars. Featuring a Colorado Maduro wrapper, creamy notes of earth and cedar flood the palate, with the trademark Honduran spice appearing in full force. When you add the expert construction and consistency you've come to expect from Punch, there's no surprise that the Gran Puro has become a constant resident in cigar aficionados' humidors for decades.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Wouldn't call it the boldest of cigars out there but the flavor profile is extremely complex sophisticated in my opinion. I have always heard great things about Punch, and this proved them all correct. Started out extremely sweet with notes of honey, caramel, and figs. Then there was definitely some toasty, biscuit-ness in the mix. Towards last 1/3-1/4 of the stick, it really rounded itself out with some really nice, creamy clouds of earthy, cedar, leather luxuriousness. nice way to end a long day. Or start off an easy Sunday too, I suppose. Only lost points becuzes the burn line wouldnt stay exactly even and it took a little bit of touching up with the lighter. Other than that, solid winner. Will buy more in the future, fer sure.

Nice looking Short Robusto. Very subtle aroma. Draw is loose, which I did not expect from a firm tight packed Puro. Cold draw gives a mixture of sweet Tobacco, hay and tea. Once lit, burns true, plenty of fairly dense smoke, and grey ash. Mellow well blended sweet Tobacco, did not get any complex mix of chocolate or coconut. Just good tobacco. Very pleasant smoke.

Good looking well rolled cigar with a nice mottled brown wrapper and tight seams. Decent draw and sometimes slightly uneven burn that always corrected itself. Aroma was nothing special and taste started off unremarkable but the 2nd third was excellent. Got bitter and almondy towards the end. Overall okay but probably won't revisit for a while.

I don't like to spend a lot of time outside in the cold, so these smaller cigars are good for the winter here up north. Punch always over-delivers and these are no exception. A lot of bang for the buck. The flavor is consistent throughout--a nice floral sweetness. Don't expect a lot of variation. A few of the cigars required touch ups, but mostly they have been flawless. I've never been disappointed by a Punch cigar.

Whenever I purchase a 4 to $5 stick I purchase more than one and smoke them over several months as consistency can be an issue. Here I found the same experiences throughout. The construction and the burn are exceptional., The taste for me was overwhelmingly aged wood with even a hint of foulness... you know like a cut cut of steak from the bargain bin. To top it off Punch has changed the banding and to be brutally honest I find it to be among the very least attractive I have ever seen. Nonetheless, I have great respect for my Punch experiences over the years so I generously give it an 87. There are many better out there in this price range.

Overall I like this cigar, although I’d probably not buy it again. It’s rolled TIGHT, but yet has a smooth draw. Flavor is average and it tends to go out rather quickly, so you have to constantly relight.

Not a bad cigar...in fact, it was very good for the price and I can see why Cigar Aficionado magazine listed it in the Top 25 Best Buys of 2016. Nice draw and flavor, which I'd put on the mild side of medium with just hints of spice and earthiness. I was disappointed with the burn, though, as it required several touch-ups along the way (but it never required a re-light). Overall a fine affordable cigar to keep on hand.

Pretty average all around. The draw was a little too loose and the flavor had a similar profile i've found in other Punch cigars...wet earth/wood with minimal spice. The last 3rd greatly improved but after trying a few different blends from Punch, the brand just isn't for me.

So flavor is great on this one. Chocolate, nutty, spicy once you get past first third. However, was very dissapointed in the burn which had to be touched up often. Also, about half way I could not light. Turned out the cigar was hollow, actually missing filler. What's up with that? A one time defect? I will find out on the next one. Gave it decent Mark's for flavor but just use your judgement if you should give this one a go.

Very enjoyable smoke with great presentation and feel. Super construction, very good draw and pleasant woody flavor. Spice was just right for a solid medium-bodied experience, with a touch of sweetness coming through to add a layer of flavor in the middle third. Certainly worth the time and easily as good or better than most sticks which cost double or triple the price. CA's excellent rating is well deserved for this cigar at any price point.

Not a bad cigar. Burns excellent, and is well constructed. Not an impressive blend of flavors but it's leathery and consistent.

This all Honduran stick was loose in the draw, spicy and woody on the nose. The 1st third introduced leather, pepper in the back of the throat, and a bit of spice on lips. It was clean and smooth with a simple flavor throughout. About a dozen puffs into it, I noticed hints of sweetness on the edges. It produced lots of white smoke and I got a good hit of nicotine already. Canoeing made an appearance as I entered the 2nd third; corrected it. Earthiness started spilling into the scene and more pepper deposited onto the back of the throat. In the final third, cinnamon, cedar and leather mingled pleasantly. This was medium bodied and medium strength stick- very enjoyable!

Smoking this cigar direct from delivery or the cigar shop will probably not impress you much. But wait. If you have the patience to put these back for a year or two, you'll be in for an amazing treat! The spice, aroma and flavor of this Honduran Puro is luscious. Get a box or two, wrap the boxes in glad wrap and then tape them down. Put in a cool dry place. Enjoy next year! Highly recommended!

Another good cigar from punch, at this price point you will have a hard time finding a better medium bodied stick. This is not overly complex but offers up a toasty and woody flavors with an earthy finish that will not overpower your palate. Draw was perfect and produced the coolest smoke I can remember from a cigar. Burn was a bit wavy at times

Prominent veins, wrapper unravels a little to easily, not all sticks are straight. Tastes wonderful, moderately strong and peppery, lots of smoke, easy draw. Would buy again despite inconsistent appearance and "build quality".
