The CAO Session was created to satisfy the cigar aficionado’s desire to enjoy an everyday cigar with an extraordinary taste and flavor. Developed by Rick Rodriguez, CAO’s master blender, the CAO Session’s dark and enticing USA Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper is draped over a Dominican binder and a specially blended filler made of premium tobacco from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The CAO Session is hand-crafted in the Dominican Republic, which is the first time that CAO has created a cigar in the DR in almost 10 years.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
Binder
Dominican Republic
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Dominican Republic
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

NeptuneCigar.com The CAO Holiday Horde has been discontinued and to the best of our knowledge will not return. This included the Rabid Reindeer, Nasty Nutcracker and others. However, the same manufacuter has released some special samplers for the holiday season such as the Cohiba Slidiing Humidor Ashtray and Cigar Sampler Gift Set, the CAO World Travel Humidor and 4-Cigar Sampler and others.

When I first bought this cigar, I thought it was not bad. Great draw, tons of smoke. Stays lit. Good aroma. 2nd time I bought it (now), the chocolate hit me! Not sure what happened there. It reminded me of an aromatic. Did not enjoy this one. Needless to say, I wont be buying it again.

In my never-ending quest to find a great everyday smoke, I stumbled upon the CAO Session Garage. The size fit my criteria: not too long, not too short, and not too thick. It was something I could enjoy in 45 minutes or so. Its dark chocolatey broadleaf wrapper was surprisingly smooth in texture, and it had a little sheen to it. The construction was firm with a little give. The aroma off the foot and body was a little grassy with some earthiness too. When lit, the earthy aroma prevailed, and I picked up some sweetness and a bit of nutty notes. Halfway through a warm tobacco aroma took over and some spicy notes introduced themselves. The draw was easy, and the burn was sharp. At some point towards the end, I picked up some of the earthiness, but the tobacco flavor stayed the course. Overall, this one’s a keeper if you’re looking for a great smoke at an affordable price.

By far the worst construction I have seen in a cigar in my life. The foot looked ok but the head was so tightly rolled it popped and unraveled as soon as I cut the head. The whole middle of the cigar felt like a hollow straw. I swear there is a half to a whole leaf missing from this cigar. After the first 3/4 to 1 inch it tunneled horribly. I had to put it out half way through it was so bad. I cut the burned end off to view the construction. No surprise it was severely under packed in the middle. I would say the first 1/2 inch smoked ok but after that it was impossible to smoke. Horrible tunneling and continuous relighting made for a extremely unpleasant smoke. CAO needs to get their act together. This is not a $9 cigar. It's a $1 gas station grade piece of garbage.

Good construction and quite complex. Many transitions, stats slow and keeps "ramping up" until the end in strength and flavor. Many flavors, wood, dark coffee, earth, leather all mixed nicely in a semi sweet flavor stick. very interesting smoke. May be on the strong side for novice smokers

I smoked a bigger ring gauge version of this cigar so I thought to get a box. This size cigar how ever was a different story..Basically i have smoke 3 sticks and it's a mixed bag of tricks.i dont like to give negative reviews but hey..after all I did get a box..the tobacco is a little harsh and and the draw is a tight. I have found my self relighting as I progressed threw the stick. I am going to let the remaining sticks in this box hang out on my humidor for about 6 months. We will see what happens after that.....good marketing and packaging I will give them that...

Smoked the CAO Session Garage while listening to Rick Rodriguez, cigar blender for CAO, talking about how he calls meetings to smoke new blends and calls them "Sessions". So that is where the name comes from for this new CAO offering, the CAO Session Garage. Perfect visual of a few people smoking stogies in Rick's garage. The cigar itself is visually appealing with a bright orange and blue band and dark chocolate Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper. In these times where there is a shortage of Broadleaf, it is a great opportunity to pick up a CAO Session if your regular maduros are out of stock. I rarely smoke maduros. They take more time to get the burn going, and sometimes I find them too sweet. The CAO Session is well balanced in that regard. It is sweet, and you feel it as soon as you take the first puff, but not too sweet. It did take a bit to get going in terms of burn, but once it was lit it burned beautifully and evenly with a nice white ash. The construction of this cigar was 5 stars. This is definitely a medium to full bodied cigar, not for the mild cigar smoker and if you are looking for medium, be prepared for some extra nicotine. Overall, this cigar Session was very enjoyable with pleasant and complex flavors that were earthy, chocolaty, woody, and peppery. Get ready to sit, smoke, and chill with this one, it's a great pick!

I've become a huge fan off the Session "Shop" (6" x 60), and this is just as good, but with less of the time commitment. These medium to full body sticks smoke slowly, and the burn stays straight. I think we all have different tastes for flavor, but personally this one really does it for me. The motto "Sit-Smoke-Chill" really reflects what this stick means to me. I hope you enjoy just as much!

After my very 1st experience with the Session "Shop" (gordo), I was HOOKED! Have purchased 2 boxes since then, it's been my "go to" smoke just about every night. As the band says, "Sit-Smoke-Chill." I took the advice and yes, such an enjoyable experience! It has a great draw and smooth taste. I believe I can enjoy Session any time of day. Sometimes the burn is a little uneven, had to make corrections at times, self corrected at times. This is a special cigar for me, and I highly recommend it!
