The H. Upmann Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez Sunrise expands the historic H. Upmann brand, one of the most respected names in cigars, dating back to 1844. Produced in Estelí, Nicaragua, at the factory of master blender AJ Fernandez, the line reflects the craftsmanship and consistency that have made Fernandez a leading figure in modern cigar making. Sunrise offers a fresh chapter for the legendary brand while introducing new smokers to the H. Upmann tradition.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

The H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Sunrise is the newest addition to the AJ Fernandez family for Altadis, and it certainly lives up to its name. Designed with the morning in mind, this cigar starts the day by giving you just enough spice and pepper to wake up your palate—because apparently coffee shouldn't have to do all the work. I enjoyed the Churchill size the best. After that initial burst, the cigar settles into a smooth, balanced smoke that is incredibly easy to enjoy. The profile becomes more refined and mellow, making it a natural companion for your morning coffee—or whatever your preferred excuse for starting the day is. While the Sunrise Churchill is designed with the morning in mind, its smooth character makes it enjoyable at any time of day. Whether you're already a fan of AJ Fernandez's work or you're just getting familiar with his lineup, this is one I definitely encourage you to try. A smooth, approachable cigar with just enough spice to get your day moving. Consider it your morning wake-up call.

Firm construction, open draw, mostly even burn with only one minor touchup needed. Medium bodied and very smooth with lots of nice thick creamy smoke output. Flavors of oak, leather and toasted nuts.

Packs so much flavor you don’t want to put it down. Might be my imagination but i get notes of lemon/orange zest in the finish. Didn’t pair it with anything, a very enjoyable 1.5hours with this stick.
