La Aurora Preferidos Cameroon Platinum No. 1 6 * 58, Box of 25

Aged in oak barrels to acquire subtle undertones of woodiness, the select blend is hand-crafted by one of seven master rollers. The intense color of a dark oily Cameroon wrapper contains the distinctive flavor and pleasant aroma of this medium-bodied smoke.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Cameroon wrappers are grown in the East part of the country. The growing area spreads over the eastern border, into the Central African Republic. Wrappers are air grown, without fertilizers and pesticides, by small farmers. The average plantation size is about one acre. The seed is originally from Sumatra, introduced in the country just after WWII.

Dominican Republic
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

I'm very disappointed with these. Normally a great smoke, but these were different. They look good but the cold draw was obstructed and once I finally got it lit, it only burned for about five minutes. The cigar developed a very big, solid plug that looked like charcoal and only smoldered a bit with very little smoke. The cigar itself tasted terrible and smelled just as bad. Three of the five I bought have had the same issue.

Purchased a bundle on sale. Have smoked 2 and enjoyed them both, one of my favorites, although I do prefer their #2 for size. Cut my teeth on Cameroon perfectos and they are still a favorite. 1-1/2 to 2 hour smoke. Ash was a little crumbly and they required a couple of touch-ups but the flavor was excellent. Smoked to the nub which is somewhat rare for me with a larger vitola.

Very Dissapointed this Sampler, I started with the Corojo Gold, loose Draw and Cheap Full Flavor Saturated, then I took the Platinum and tight Draw also got disarmed after some minutes, this cigars are complete overpriced, waste of money, avoid!

This is a perfect set of cigars and very reasonable for the quality. I love the broadleaf. The burn is great and stays lite in between long 5 minute puffs.

Love Rene’s picks, this one was milder than I thought it would be, but still tasty, some nice oak and cream and I got a nutty oily finish. Burn was perfect. Produced a good amount of smoke finished this in about 35min, If I was going to nitpick would say I was hoping for a little bit more flavor for the price point, but overall I was satisfied.

We had a visit from Manuel Inoa with La Aurora. If you have a chance to catch on of his blending seminars, do it. The connection here is this particular cigar was a highlight of their road show. It's an all around complete smoke. Unlike most others, the Cameroon wrapper is actually from Cameroon. This is the cigar that for those who want to experiment one up from "mild" to try.

Every once in a while I like to smoke a cigar a bit lighter than my usual medium-full variety, and I typically like to splurge when I do. Today I walked by this attractive tube staring at me from its home on the shelf, and knew it was the one. Being a fan of perfecto shaped vitolas, I couldn't help but smile as I removed the stogie from its tube. Boasting a silky smooth wrapper, perfect figurado construction, and a classy band featuring the legendary lion the Aurora brand is known for, this is quite the looker. This is the Cameroon option, which allows for a medium bodied finish with delicious notes of sweet oak and cream. The draw was very reasonable, and the burn time on this somewhat small cigar is still an impressive 40-45 minutes. All in all, one of the best Cameroon wrapped cigars on the market, if you ask me. Enjoy with coffee!

The La Aurora Preferido series is a cigar that I always keep on hand. They are a great change up smoke. The No. 2s are like candy. The No.1 Cameroon is my favorite cigar from La Aurora IMHO.
