The Crowned Heads Mil Dias Maduro is a line extension to the ever-popular Mil Dias series. However, the blend has been completely re-engineered to provide a uniquely different but desirable smoking experience. The blend starts with premium filler leaves from Jalapa, Condega, Ometepe, which are three regions in Nicaragua known for producing excellent tobacco. The filler leaves are housed in a Habano binder, and then the bunch is covered by a muscular USA Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper. The cigars are known for the distinctive flavor profile, excellent construction, and peppery retro-hale. The cigars are handmade in Nicaragua.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.

The Mil Días Des Deux LE 2025 is a dual-blend limited release featuring twelve Corona Grande cigars, a size unique to this release and a personal favorite of Crowned Heads co-founder John Huber. Six carry an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with Costa Rican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian fillers, while six are dressed in Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro with all-Nicaraguan fillers. Produced at D’Hatuey in Estelí, it showcases two distinct medium-bodied expressions of the Mil Días line in a unique vitola. Limited product of just 1,500 boxes. Also available in limited quantities in packs of two, offering one of each blend.

It’s got some lovely, clear flavors throughout probably a majority of the smoke. Where it’s lacking is consistency in the second third, a truly great comeback in the final third, and a general lack of aroma off the foot. Overall the good parts are memorable, but this won’t be at the forefront of my mind or something I have to buy again soon.

One of my favorites from Crowned Heads, I have found a slight variation in taste between them and a few have been loose causing them to become hot.

This cigar is a maduro version of one of my favorites. The Mil Dias Maduro has a beautiful, smooth Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper with fillers from Nicaragua, which is a profile I enjoy a lot. This cigar is a smooth experience bursting with notes of cocoa, coffee, and chocolate. There is a subtle black pepper note present throughout the smoke to cut through the sweetness a bit. I didn't experience many burn problems, it burned smoothly and evenly througout the length of the cigar and I only had to touch it up once or twice. It's a medium-full strength cigar, but not a spice or pepper bomb as many are in this strength profile. There is a woody note at the beginning which dies back as I got through the first third and into the second, but the most present notes are those of cocoa, sweetness, and leather. The draw on the cigar was great, and it's one I always find myself coming back. This cigar pairs great with an espresso to amplify the sweetness, but you could easily pair it with an anejo rum as well.

Round cigar with a slightly marbled/splotchy medium brown wrapper that had some tooth and oil. It was on the veiny side, but nothing too concerning. Hay. Baking spices. A little chocolate. Wood. A bit of cream here and there. Medium+ finish. Medium+ body. Medium strength. Good draw. Burn line got a little wonky in the middle, but no need for touchup. It’s a solid cigar, but when you factor in the price (approx $12 retail) there are significantly better and fuller-flavored maduros on the market. Just one man’s opinion.
