Luciano Cigars

Luciano Cigars was founded by two cigar aficionados from two very distinct backgrounds. Luciano Meirelles, CEO and Co-Founder has more than a decade of experience in the cigar industry and a passion for all things cigars. Tiago Splitter is the other co-founder who shares the same passion for cigars as Luciano. But, prior to jumping into the premium cigar business, Tiago was the first Brazilian-born player to ever win an NBA championship in 2014 with the San Antonio Spurs. He is the assistant coach for the Houston Rockets. Handmade in Nicaragua, Luciano Cigars uses the finest premium tobaccos available to create unique blends that offer satisfying smoking experiences.

The Fiat Lux by Luciano was crafted by gifted cigarmaker Luciano Meirelles (co-founder and CEO of Luciano Cigars) as a call to cigar aficionados to lose themselves in the cigar’s complexity of flavors, rich aromas, and superb construction. The cigar’s inviting Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper is home to a binder and long-filler leaves from Nicaragua.

The illustration was created by Deborah, Luciano’s daughter. The cigar’s blend consists of a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that covers a dual binder of Ecuadorian Sumatra and Ecuadorian Habano ’92 leaves, and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. The Tiago (formerly known as Pichardo) Clasico Natural is the third iteration of the highly popular Tiago Clasico brand. Its reddish Ecuadorian Sun-grown wrapper is combined with a Nicaraguan binder and filler to create a traditional smoking indulgence. The cigar is handmade in Nicaragua at the Luciano Cigars factory in Nicaragua. The cigars are named after Tiago Splitter a cigar aficionado turned cigar crafter and co-founder. Prior to jumping into the premium cigar business, Tiago was the first Brazilian-born player to ever win an NBA championship in 2014 with the San Antonio Spurs. He is also the assistant coach for the Houston Rockets.

I chose to smoke something new and different -- hence the Fiat Lux by Luciano -- meaning "Let There Be Light". I am smoking the robusto size (Intuition) and this blend is made in 4 vitolas. These cigars are made with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper (very high priming leaves), along with a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Upon first light, earthy notes were upfront, joined by cedar, spice and pepper notes. I was also tasting some natural sweet tobacco taste. Into the second third, the earthiness and pepper definitely increased. None of these notes were over powering, which makes for a very enjoyable smoke thus far! Into the final third, the notes were primarily the same to the final stretch. The construction was perfect -- the burn temperature was ideal, perfect draw, nice light ash. The cigar started out as a medium strength/medium body and basically stayed this way throughout. Although this was not an overly complex smoke, it was definitely very well balanced throughout. This is one I would highly recommend!! Enjoy.

I smoked this a little over a year after I bought it. It was a good cigar but not great for me. Flavors were good in the first half it just wasn’t all that well balanced. It had little bite the second half and really ramped up in strength. Decent construction for a lancero. Won’t be something I purchase again. I might try in a larger format.

I always find lanceros a bit strange to smoke and thus don't smoke them often. This one I found firm on the draw and requiring a few touch ups. The flavor was nice with hints of cocoa and coffee and pepper. I would be interested in trying this blend in a thicker guage. I just couldn't get totally past the meager draw. Otherwise a nice flavorful smoke.

I was wanting to smoke something different and new so as I walked through the store the Pichardo Clasico Maduro Toro spoke to me. This cigar is box pressed with simple banding and a beautiful dark chocolate Brazilian wrapper (one of my favorites). The cigar is made up of all Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and filler. The Pichardo Maduro is only offered in this one size -- 6 1/2 x 50 vitola. Upon first light, notes of mocha and light pepper are popping. Shortly after, theses notes were joined by citrus notes -- a delightful combination. Into the second third, there is a very nice balance between fruity notes and a nice creaminess. The sweetness begins to subside as well as the chocolate notes. Strong coffee notes come into play, while the citrus and pepper are in the background. Into the final third, the same notes were pretty much dominant to the very end. Some earthiness appeared as well as the citrus and woody notes amping back up. Construction throughout was perfect -- strong gray ash, great draw, and the cigar burned cool to the very end. No relighting was necessary. In terms of strength and body the Pichardo started off as a medium and ended as a medium to full in both. Overall I thoroughly loved this smoking journey!! The complexity was a medium plus and definitely kept my attention to the very end. One definitely needs to experience the Pichardo. U will enjoy as I did!! This was a very tasteful, smooth maduro.

The draw on mine was perfect. Produces a lot of smoke! Undeniable quality. Still pretty expensive and lacks flavor intensity you usually get from lanceros. The aromatics are nice. Try a Tabernacle lancero if you want to be amazed by the richness of flavor a smaller ring gauge can produce.
