El Gueguense Toro Huaco 6 * 56, Box of 25

El Gueguense (pronounced Way-Wen-Say) is the first cigar released by Foundation Cigar Company after founder Nick Melillo left Drew Estate to start his own venture. The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro made in Nicaragua and the unusual name comes from a satirical folkloric character El Gueguense or "Wise Man".

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Foundation cigars are for me a discovery. I tried them thanks to this pack. All cigars where great. I am not fond of full bodied strong cigars but the Gueguense Toro Huaco was super duper. The Charter Oak, the least expensive of the pack happens to be in my opinion the best cigar in this price range so I now got a whole box of them. The cigar cutter is a top quality cutter.

Nicely balanced flavors comprised mostly of woods and spices with a harmonious background of pepper and a dash of floral notes. Burn had to be corrected a couple times, but otherwise a maintenance free smoke. Worth a try for sure.

Cashed my smoke rings in on this for an Xmas present and it was excellent all around. I love the wise men the most but all were good stuff. The charter oak had a bit of a firm draw otherwise perfect marks. I like the cutter and pamphlet too.

My first Foundation cigars did not disappoint. This is how a sampler should be put together. Including a product guide should be a standard, and I hope more brands will do the same. The cutter, too, is beautiful and heavy duty. I haven’t used it because I don’t want to tarnish it, but trust me it’s sharp haha

Having been a big fan of the Drew Estates sun grown flying pigs and unable to get any, I ordered a handful of these to see what they were like. I was very impressed and they have turned out to be a fantastic smoke. The draw is absolutely superb and the taste for me is completely on point. I would say they’re a touch milder than the sun grown flying pig but the draw and construction is superior so it’s an all round preferable smoke for me.

A nice interplay of salty and meaty with a creamy vanilla sweetness with an underlying trace of pepper. Decent draw and excellent burn. Smoked this stick with a Wise Man maduro and it was an excellent compliment to it. A solid hour long smoke overall.

It was a medium to medium plus flavoured cigar. Milky cocoa with some oak and mild earth. The retro hale had some light leather and a white pepper that was moderate. No touch ups were required but the burn had to be babied and the draw was a little tight, with some double puffs required and a few re-lights. There were no transitions in flavour, which is fine. The cigar was nice but nothing special.

I liked this cigar very much. It's a bit spicy but very flavorful. It did burn a little quicker than I expected for the size, but the payoffs were worth it. It was my first try with this stick, but I will be buying again soon to determine if it will fit into my rotation. Draws easy and smells great. Will smoke again.

Pre-light: Caramel, Graham cracker, cedar. 1/3: Black pepper, sweet tobacco, wood, cream, nuttiness, almond, leather and coffee. Ash dropped fairly quickly. 2/3: Peanuts, chocolate and wood. Minor touch up required. 3/3: Earthy, wood and some leather. I enjoyed this cigar quite a bit. Burn was pretty good, requiring just a small touch up. Lots of smoke output with a nice draw. Definitely give it a try, I will be smoking more of these. Final smoke time 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Great pull and nice burn produced plentiful amounts of billowy smoke. Delivered black tea and mild pepper flavors, with a small hint of sweet charred woodiness. Flavors were balanced, layered and rounded with smooth finish throughout the entire experience. This El Güegüense Corona Gorda 5 5/8 x46 is a very enjoyable 90 minute smoke.

Here’s an over priced piece of crap. This goes to show you just because something cost a lot doesn’t make it better. The burn on these cigars is horrible. Tastes like it was washed in dirty socks water.

Rusty iron reddish color. Every time I’ve smoked a cigar with a rosado wrapper two things happen and I swear it never fails, 1. The cigar has a nice aroma. 2. The cigar has a crappy burn, and needs many, many touch ups, canoes, etc. This cigar was no exception. I will not purchase another one.
