The Rough Rider Sweets Connecticut is sure to will please the palate of sweet cigar fans. A medium-strength stick, the Rough Rider Sweets features a Claro Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that is draped over a Piloto Cubano binder, and Criollo 98 and Piloto Cubano long-filler tobaccos. Medium-bodied, the Rough Rider Sweets provides a creamy blend of honey, sweetness, with a hint of cedar.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Piloto Cubano is a popular variety of Cuban-seed tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic. It produces a full bodied and flavorful leaf. Ideally used as a filler, it is also used as a binder.

This is a very nice, mellow cigar, with a good burn, mostly. There isn't much of an aroma, that I could detect. It is slightly sweet, that stays beginning to end. This is a cigar that I always have in my collection. I know how long it lasts, about 90min, +/- 10min depending how fast you smoke it, and doesn't have an offensive smell, like cigarettes.

This has to be the best low budget stick I have come across. Love that it introduces you to a honey, jasmine floral taste that has a bit of sweetness to start off things, then halfway through, you get a strong tobacco to remind you that this is a hardcore stick not to be fooled with a honey sweet stick. To be honest, it’s a great mix of both and could honestly have this as an everyday smoke.

Found it!!! This is the first of my staples/standard cigars in my humidor. Yes, I am new to cigars, and have been buying singles, doubles and some five "packs", looking for cigars that I want to smoke on a regular basis, for fun, relaxation, at the beach, during the day, etc. And I have found it. Taking it out of the cellophane wrap, you can feel how well it is made. You can feel the firmness of the cigar. Even as you make your cut you can feel how firmly it is wrapped. Off the bat, the smell is a standard tobacco smell, the wrapper has a sweet taste. I am using a cross (a V-cut in +) cut and the draw is just right. Aside from the sweet taste from the wrapper, there is a creamy taste as well. I noticed quite quickly, that the ash stays firmly on the cigar. The ash doesn't split or droop or even have any "cracks" along it. It is just smooth at the end of the cigar. It looks cool. There is a shade of the Drew Estate Factory Smokes Sweet (also one of my final contenders for space in my humidor). It is sweet, just not as sweet as the Factory Smokes. It is a mild to medium smoke. There is no over-powering harshness/acrid taste that settles in the mouth. The sweetness and mellow flavour is ... you know how it's like having a drink, one that you normally have, a new strong coffee, or new whiskey or bourbon, and you just need maybe a bit of cream/milk for the coffee, or some water or soda for the whiskey/bourbon, just to hold the taste down a bit, that's what the sweetness and creamy taste does, but it allows the tobacco taste to come in too. The smoke light but has a decent body to it. I must admit that I didn't taste anything on the retro hale, but that's probably because I have only just started to do it and I'm still trying to get used to it. This is a very good cigar and I am very happy that I, as a beginner, have found it. A great cigar for a great price.

I was hoping for much better from these cigars. I was looking for a nice sweet cigar cheaper than Deadwoods. Unfortunately, these ain’t it! The taste was off and the tip seemed almost sticky, like when you lick the gum on an envelope. No thanks!

This cigar burns really good and has an excellent draw, but the sweetened tip is a little much. This would probably be a highly rated Connecticut if it were not for that sweetened tip. It is way too sweet!

I get the Rough Rider in both the 50 and 60 size. the 50 is a nice less than hour smoke. I really like the Connecticut wrapper. It start off with a sweet taste and finishes with a strong but taste of ceder. Way up there on my list and with a box of 25 for less that hundred bucks.
