Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

I really wanted to like this cigar especially at this price point be for me it just wasn't for my taste. I can appreciate it is a very good cigar but the syrup sweetness was just too much along with heavy bakers spice throughout. Add in burn issues and it was just not a great experience. After discovering a new favourite at a much lower price point it was a real let down. Just not my taste but I can see other people really like it.

I love CLE, so I thought I would try Eiroa. Eiroa just doesn’t seem to hold up. The draw was tight and the burn tunneled inside burning the filler first. Just average.

This Eiroa was a Neptune recommendation that I was meaning to try. The cigar is medium body with a very nice brown chocolate appearance. The flavors I thought were earth, pepper. leather and a cocoa taste. The draw was very good with lots of smoke. The burn was good for the most part. I paired this with a pour of Macallan 12 Sherry Oak scotch. Overall a very enjoyable combination.

I'm always in a search to find a replacements for the old camacho corojo. I think this cigar is as close as I have found. If it was slightly stronger and with a more even burn it has real potential. It has hints of the original camacho corojo cigars when they were good smokes. The aroma and taste are good as well. I had to touch up the cigar at least a dozen times because of the uneven burn, but i would smoke it again. The aladino maduro cigars are also close, but they are also a mild to medium strength cigar. The orginal camacho corojo had a real punch. I'm glad i still have a few in my humidor. I can't believe i used to hand them out to everyone. Let's hope christian continue this line and comes out with a stronger maduro version :o)

I'm going to 5-star this given the price and the fact that it is a big long-lasting stick, with the caveat that despite saying "Dark" it's not close to being a maduro and in fact has a very "Cuban" taste to it. It is intense and spicy and leathery. Color is a walnut-brown, firm pack. Really good razor-sharp slow burn for a big ring-gage like this. I found it more intense than I was expecting (full body) as I had been expecting more of a maduro approach given the name, but I won't ding it for my own expectations. If you are looking for a Cuban-style long smoke, that still stays smooth-ish despite the spice and full-on tobacco flavor, you may well really enjoy this.

The Eiroa Dark Natural is one of the newer releases from Christian Eiroa. This cigar caught my attention 1st being an Eiroa, Eiroa makes some of the most exquisite cigars on the market today, and 2nd its presentation. The cigar has an elegant wrapper that was just screaming my name. I began by torching the foot of the cigar till it was completely charred black. At first puff I was taken to paradise. The cigar is creamy, it’s nutty, and has a small amount of spice. The cigars ash burned evenly and the draw was perfect. I would say to pair this cigar up with a woody whiskey, or a dark coffee. Another great addition to the Eiroa line be sure to pick one up and try it.

Although I was already betting on a satisfying smoke, what first caught my eye about this cigar was its beautiful color and texture. Christian Eiroa has always done a great job in that aspect when it comes to his cigars. Once I lit this cigar, I was introduced to a nice medium tobacco flavor and hints of spice. The combination of its Honduran wrapper, filler and binder give this puro its nice unique taste. Halfway through the cigar, the spice diminished a little bit, while the earthy flavor I found in the beginning of the cigar is still present and stays consistent throughout the rest of the experience. I would definitely recommend this new offering from Eiroa to anyone looking for a good medium-bodied cigar with a high-quality, traditional profile.
