Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

I bought a box of these due to it's high rating. I smoked my first one today even thought it was just of the truck because I was so excited to try it. The Appearance was beautiful in the box. Once lite the draw was smooth and easy just like it should be with the burn being even all the way through. The Aroma was pleasant not over baring and the taste was great. I am expecting it to get better with more rest. Smoking this in the morning with my coffee was a good choice as it wasn't over barring, but think my strong coffee over wrote the coffee notes. I can't wait to smoke more of these and enjoy the journey. Will defiantly buy more and recommend to others.

While not cheap Plasencia just makes great cigars. These all run in the medium to strong side. I think the Alma Fuerte and Del Fuego are the stars but they are all good.

Not easy to write a review of 6 plasencias in a short blurb but here goes. Excellent. Cant go wrong with plasencia. All were well constructed and smoked great. I liked the almas the best and the del Fuego is hands down my favorite but all 6 were quality. I enjoyed the use of the ashtray as well. While every cigar satisfied the del Fuego earns a permanent spot on my favorites list.

Good, medium-to-full cigar. First half was pleasant, graham-crackery with a perfume-like sweentess ...2nd half got stronger tho the sweet note always remained. Personally, while it's nice, I'd pay the ~$5 more to get the Alma Fuerte, which is really a world-class stick. I thnk the Joya Antano Gran Reserva is a better mid-range deal.

I’ve never tried the Plasencia brand and this sampler pack is a great introduction. So far I’ve tried the Alma Del Campo: very earthy, medium body stick, and look forward to trying the remaining lineup. The bonus wooden ashtray is a very nice touch.

The Alma del Campo series is the second blend in a planned five-part series by Plasencia Cigars utilizing the Alma designation. A curious note about Plasencia Cigars is that every vitola is shipped in a sturdy wooden box of which the lid can be used as an ashtray. The Alma del Campo is a Nicaraguan puro composed uniquely of exclusive tobaccos from the company’s farms. Presentation for the Alma del Campo reflects a sense of elegance that few brands can equal. After toasting and lighting the Guajiro with a match, the first few draws produce a blast of coffee, earth, and hay. The tongue then experiences a strong dose of assorted spices and pepper. The draw of the Guajiro is close to perfect with just a touch of resistance, generating an admirable amount of smoke output from the cap and the foot. As the Guajiro enters its 2nd third, it displays his true nature, medium-to-full in strength and medium-to-full in flavor. The aromas and flavors present in the 1st third of the cigar continue to dominate, although the initial coffee note gradually shifts to a stronger espresso like presence. The burn line is sharp, holding one and one-half inches of white/silver ash. As I reach the final third, the draw remains very open, requiring only light puffs to produce a decent amount of smoke. Stronger notes of minerals and salt begin to develop as I take the last draws. The Alma del Campo Guajiro is one of the few cigars which remain smokable all the way down to the nub. The Plasencia Alma del Campo Guajiro is a fine example of a Nicaraguan robusto, easily surpassing most of those currently on the market.
