After careful review, the company decided to call their latest maduro line the “Micallef A,” which is a nod of recognition to their club. The Micallef A features a coffee-brown Nicaraguan maduro wrapper that is adorned with a very eye-catching band. The back of the band has a special message for Micallef fans. Brand owner and overall entrepreneur Al Micallef fell in love with the cigars made by Joel and Edel Gomez Sanchez, so much so that he asked them to create a personal cigar just for him. After their official debut in 2016, Micallef quickly introduced numerous other types of cigars, but realizing that most of the catalog was heavily centered on medium-bodied strength sticks, they focused their attention on something with a little more kick. Hailing from the Reconcavo Basin region of Bahia, Brazilian Mata Fina, or 'thin forest', is some of the more popular Brazilian tobacco used. This stalk-cut sun-grown leaf is dark, medium-bodied in strength, and contains a smooth, earthy profile perfect for maduro or oscuro wrappers.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.
