The Foundation Charter Oak Pegnataro was crafted to pay tribute to the opening of Foundation Cigar’s new office in 2023, which is in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley where the sought-after Connecticut Shade and Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco is grown. It was also created as an homage to Pegnarato, one of Foundation Cigars founder Nick Melillo’s grandfathers, who was fond of Connecticut Shade tobacco. He helped foster in Melillo a love for tobacco and cigars. The Pegnataro cigar features a honey-hued USA Connecticut Shade wrapper draped over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The cigars are handmade in Nicaragua at the Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. factory.
