La Flor Dominicana offers the perfect combination of strength, smoothness and complexity with the Colorado Oscuro. Rather than simply being an all-out powerhouse, the Colorado Oscuro uses Nicaraguan Habano wrapper housing a meaty blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco that brings forth an underlying sweetness that you usually don't find in a lot of full-body cigars. Notes of spice, leather, and espresso permeate the palate, and while not as strong as other LFD options, it is still not for the novice smoker. With limited production yearly, make sure to stock up when they're available.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

This is a very bold stick. Notes of dark coffee, leather and spice take center stage and stay pretty consistent throughout the duration. Perfect construction with great draw and burn. Not too complex but I'm glad I tried it.

This from a bias LFD man, my go to smoke before this was the LFD Double Ligero. I thought hands down the best cigar EVER made. Then this thing comes along, I like the refined sister of the Double Ligero. Smoother, not as peppery, more refined. It’s like you had the older sister now you get the little sister. She sat back and watched all the stuff the older sister did and made mistakes on, to strong, too much pepper, overpowering dudes. Now she is a little more mellow, still with the pepper and strength just not so much. I first smoked it at my shop as a number 2, really liked it. I then did some searching and found that they made it in a larger ring gauge (burns slower). Had to do some web searching and found Neptune cigars was the only spot that had in available in a No. 5. I think it somewhere between a Liga Privada T52 and the Double Ligero, but don’t take my word for it, buy a couple. You won’t be mad. #mynewgoto.

Impeccable. Worth at least double the price. Effortless, medium bodied smoke with a perfect burn and subtle notes of fig and raisin bread. Finish on the shorter side, which just makes you want to get puffing all the more. Box worthy. I was actually hesitant to write this review because nobody seems to know about this thing and I fear if they do, the price will go up. Right now it is, hands down, far and away, the best value in premium cigars.
