The Patoro Terre Blanche was crafted to celebrate Patoro cigar’s 20th Anniversary. However, instead of calling it an anniversary cigar, the brand opted to name the cigar in honor of the white earth (Terre Blanche) found in the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic. This soil is rich in calcium, which gives it a lighter color. It is also an excellent place for growing premium tobacco. The cigar sports a tasty Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper placed over a binder and filler grown in the Cibao Valley. Prior to rolling, the tobaccos are aged for five to eight years. The cigars are handmade by De Los Reyes Cigars in the Dominican Republic.

Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

The main tobacco region in the Dominican Republic is the Cibao valley in the northern part of the island. In the 60s, Cuban seeds were brought here by exiled Cuban cigar makers and found that they grew exceptional cigar tobacco, called Piloto Cubano. The native Dominican tobacco, called Olor, is milder than Piloto Cubano yet more aromatic. The first company to grow Dominican tobacco for cigar wrapper was Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in 1995.
