Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

Dominican Republic
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

Great burn and construction, very mild flavors. Grass, wood, and cream notes, with a slight hint of spice. Flavors started to become bitter in the 2nd - Final thirds of the cigar though. Overall, a smooth but uneventful smoke.

The burn was a bit ragged and crooked for the first couple inches but then settled out to burn even. Nice draw throughout the smoke. Not as interesting as The King is Dead. But still a pleasing smoke. The aroma is a nice scorched apricot and dry sweet hay. More uneven burning at the halfway point. Hopefully the next one performs better.
