The AJ Fernandez Cigar Company is highly regarded for making memorable premium cigars. And, the New World Cameroon is no exception. The New World Cameroon sports a natural Cameroon wrapper that is expertly draped over a binder and filler made of premium Nicaraguan tobacco to create a medium strength cigar that is rich in flavor and aroma. Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.
Wrapper
Cameroon
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Cameroon wrappers are grown in the East part of the country. The growing area spreads over the eastern border, into the Central African Republic. Wrappers are air grown, without fertilizers and pesticides, by small farmers. The average plantation size is about one acre. The seed is originally from Sumatra, introduced in the country just after WWII.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

After smoking some of the other vitolas of the same kind, I was surprised to find this Doube Robusto so satisfyingly sweet. That might have resulted from keeping the cigar in the humidor for a few months. The one I smoked after receipt was straight spice, with no sweetness. I will gladly repurchase and keep it in the humidor for extended periods.

When I say from start to finish, I literally mean from start to finish. It started with the cold draw with a hint of floral and cinnamon before it was even lit. The draw was perfect using a V-Cut. The burn was even throughout. It tasted wonderful with the hints of flora and cinnamon more intense when lit followed by a smooth chocolate. This will definitely be a cigar that will be in my humidor from here on out.

I still remember how the cigar world exploded when AJ Fernandez released the original New World in the early 2010's, followed by the white-labeled Connecticut New World shortly after. Both were juggernauts in their fields not only in taste, but in value as well. I am happy to say that AJ can seemingly do no wrong, as the New World Cameroon continues to impress smokers everywhere! Using a light brown Cameroon leaf on top of Nicaraguan innards, this green-hued beauty starts off with an amazing dry draw of honey graham cracker. After lighting, I detected some slightly fruity notes, and the draw continues to be excellent. Burning perfectly straight the entire time, I notice that while there is still some pepper in the background, it is noticeably less than in other AJ Fernandez offerings. As I round the final lap, I'm impressed by the sweet tobacco notes I've found throughout, and discover some spicy cedar notes at the very finish. To sum everything up, the New World Cameroon Toro is "pound for pound" in the Top 5 Best Values in the Cameroon class, and probably even lands in the Top 10 in overall medium-bodied bargains on the market today. I'm not kidding, try one if you haven't yet, because this gem won't remain hidden forever... Pair with rum for maximum impact!

Good looking cigar with nice construction. Burn and draw were both above average only required one touchup. The flavors were amazing sweet nutty and just all around a pleasure to smoke until the last third or so and then it went way down hill. which is to bad if it had kept it up people would pay $15 for it. That being said it is a $7 cigar so the value to flavor ratio is still great I would gladly buy more of them even if it meant throwing the last third away and lighting another

This is a very good smoke, a close 'sister' to the regular New World which was Cigar of the year for several years. This, as the Cameroon version is much milder, and lighter to smoke. I just purchased my third box and have found few other comparable cigars at this price point.

A New World Cameroon by AJ Fernandez, a short Robusto 48x 4”. Medium strength, decent cigar but not as much Cameroon profile as the Upmann. $5.40 for this cigar is a decent value but the Nicaraguan binder and filler IMO wash out the wrapper. A very solid cigar.
