AJ Fernandez has hit a home run with their 2014 launch of New World, a cigar that is both affordable and flavorful. This medium to full bodied stick's name is inspired by the discovery of tobacco in the New World by Christopher Colombus. This lightly box-pressed Nicaraguan puro is handmade in Esteli with a dark Nicaraguan wrapper, a binder from Jalapa and fillers from Ometep, Condega and Esteli. Fans of maduro cigars will find this an absolute delight.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Another masterpiece by A.J. Fernandez. You’re drawn in by a beautiful Maduro wrapper with a unique band that tells a story. This is a nice looking BP stick by the way. The draw and burn were perfect and smoke billows out of this cigar. The aroma was very thick and spicy. From light up to the nub I tasted notes of dark chocolate and black coffee with the peppery notes intensifying through every third. This is one of my favorites and is definitely box worthy.

Smooth chocolate with black coffee. Don’t let these two notes lead you to believe they are sweet. By the final third they develop even deeper taste of the same. Razor sharp burn to the very end. I’ve had sticks twice this price it near as good. When you can get them with a discount, you can get them down to $5 a stick by the box. These will become your favorite too

I was first turned on to the New World Cigar when I purchased a top 5 cigar sampler. I enjoyed the smoke very much. I then had my second one in a best cigars of 2019 10 pack sampler. Being impressed for a second time I purchased a box of the New World Almirante Belicoso. I love the torpedo box press. It is a smooth taste, with an easy draw and a nice slow burn. These smokes would be worth it at twice the price!! They start with a combination of mushroom and new earth, and run through a whole range of sweet spices before settling down to a comfortable hickory-dominated wood finish. The most stunning part is the burn--every other box-pressed cigar I've tried has burned unevenly in one way or another, but not these. Another quality offering from AJF that I highly reommend!

Great looking stick draw was perfect a few small burn corrections but nothing to complain about. Flavors were great for the price reminded me a lot of a pardon but for a much better value. My one small complaint was it did burn a little fast probably due to the lower price it had less tobacco but the quality is there. Pick you one up you won't be disappointed
