The Fonseca by My Father is a re-imagined version of the original brand, which was founded by Don Francisco Fonseca in Cuba over a century ago. It is expertly handmade at the Garcia Family Industrial Park in Nicaragua, which is owned by My Father Cigar. The Fonseca My Father is a Nicaraguan puro that features a dark red-hued shade-grown Corojo ’98 wrapper. It is made from tobacco grown entirely on the Garcia family farm. The original Fonseca cigars were wrapped in tissue paper. In keeping with tradition, the Fonseca by My Father Cosaco (Corona, 5"3/8 * 42) vitola is wrapped in tissue.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

Nicaraguan Corojo
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan Corojo '99 tobacco originated as a wrapper leaf in 1999 in Cuba. The seeds of the original Corojo '99 seed were planted in Ecuador, and these in turn were transplanted to Nicaragua. The leaf is appreciated for its excellent wrapper qualities and spiciness.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

This is going to be a staple in the humidor. The stick starts with great flavors and builds into an amazing finish in the My Father style. The burn and construction were perfect with no touch ups. The draw was just a little tight through the first third but opened up right after. This is a really amazing cigar. Shipping was really fast and the order came in perfect condition.

I first purchased one of these fine cigars at a brick and mortar shop in Florida. After that, it was on! I had to have a box full! This has got to be up there with one of the very best cigars I have had the pleasure of smoking this year. I really miss the old Fonseca cigars, they were rich and earthy. My Father cigars has captured this with a little more. Rich, smooth, flavors of earth, leather, harness leather, buttered toast, and cedar and hardwood shavings. Impeccably wrapped and as handsome a cigar as you’ll find.

This little guy packs a surprising punch. First third was strong and toothy, with lots of spicy flavors. Once the second third hit, it was hard to keep lit. The draw was also super tight. Construction aside, it was very delicious.

Unsurprisingly for My Father, these cigars are perfectly constructed, burn and draw impeccably, and produce a good amount of smoke. A little bit one-note when it comes to the flavor, but the small size and short smoke time on this cigar, that's understandable. Heavy red pepper and cedar notes, with some nutty (almond) flavors.

A good solid little 40 minute smoke with that trademark My Father peppery spice to it. Firm yet full draw esp for its small size. Required a touch up or two but decent burn overall. Perfect cigar for those times we need a shorter 30-45 min smoke.

Fantastic smoke especially for the price. Starts off peppery but quickly gives way to some nice chocolate and coffee notes. Nice depth and complexity with a great burn and construction. A definite winner.
