The Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua was created to celebrate this storied brand’s 85th anniversary. The blend for this commemorative cigar is a re-imagined version of the original Montecristo. It was created by master crafters Rafael Nodal, AJ Fernandez and Altadis USA’s Grupo de Maestros. This specially selected blend is composed of 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos and delivers a full-strength and flavorful smoking experience. The cigars are masterfully hand crafted at AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano Factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Maduro
Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Nicaraguan
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

What a wonderful quick smoke. Construction and draw were perfect. Started pepper heavy with chocolate but quickly settled into a smooth smoke with almost a maple syrup sweetness in the background. Very enjoyable.

Wow this one packs a punch, more so than I was expecting. Maybe it was the vitola but this was a heavy, deep flavourful smoke so no lightweights need apply. Construction was spot and couldn't really fault this cigar (maybe the price).

Beautiful cigar. Very very tasty. Notes of earth, leather, and a smooth creaminess, which others have described as coconut and malted milk.A bit of red pepper on the retrohale. Flavors were in harmony with each other, one flavor wasn’t overpowering the other. The cigar seemed to get better as I smoked it. Strength increased a bit as I approached the last third of the stick but still smooth and balanced. They said it’s a strong and full flavored stick…for me it’s not as strong as advertised (medium-full for me) but it’s definitely bold and rich. It’s definitely a premium cigar and worthy of its high rating by Cigar Aficionado. I’ve smoke 5 cigars already….enjoyed it so much I decided to get a box. Going to let these babies rest in my humidor for a bit before enjoying them again! Goes best with a stout or dark beer (Leninkugel Dark Lager, Smithwick’s, or Samuel Smith’s Chocolate Stout), or with a nice bourbon. Best to enjoy this after a delicious meal, or in the evening. Definitely not a cigar if you are on limited time…this is a cigar that you want to kickback, relax, and enjoy to the fullest. Rafael Nodal and AJ Fernandez truly hit it out of the park with this stick.

great cigar......not for beginners. Starts out a bit strong but after about a inch of slow burn begins to open up to a rich warm and smooth taste. Can't say enough about a good box pressed cigar. great draw and a comfort to hold.. Set aside a good hour to fully enjoy.

Top notch maduro and an excellent long smoke. Just wow. This is one of the most enjoyable maduros that I've had. Very smooth from beginning to end with a nice rich flavor opening up after about 20-30 minutes. Perhaps because it is 100% Nicaragua, but this was so enjoyable and not overpowering. Pleasant notes of caramel, coffee and chocolate. I don't usually go for the churchills, but this changed my thinking a bit. Will definitely be getting a few more.

Unlike any Altidas Monte I’ve ever tried. Bold flavor sweetness on the finish, fantastic construction and burn. This has AJ and Nadal’s fingerprints all over it. They really hit it out of the park.

The taste is as follows: Cold draw was grassy, Initial ? was peppery and taste of leather, The burn was even and perfect and at ? the flavor was carmel nuget and creamy. The last 3rd was floral in retrohale and nutty in the finish. It was very impressive to the palate and smooth. I would highly recommend this cigar.

Very interesting size, sharp box press. Great draw. Lots of pepper at the start. This has bold flavors, but strength doesnt come in until about the midway point. Required multiple burn touchups. Heavy textured smoke, a bit of harshness towards very end.

This is a great cigar. The construction, burn and flavor are excellent. The early stages are spicy and it mellows into a fine medium to full Montecristo.
