It all started with the phenomenal Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco, which in Spanish means "Four Five", the phenomenal limited edition cigar that the company released to celebrate its 45th anniversary. The cigar was so popular, the company decided to expand the line to several sizes. Ask and ye shall receive, says Joya de Nicaragua.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado maduro wrapper is milk chocolate brown.

Nicaraguan Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.
Binder
Dominican Republic
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Great cigar and very slow and long lasting burn. This cigar can last two hours if you smoke it with a good pace. Have to draw a little extra to get smoke, at least with a v cut. Very high quality, and you can tell.

I’ll confess, I am a fan of just about all of the cigars Joya de Nicaragua churns out. From the very Cubanesque Joya Red, to one of my personal favorites, the Antano 1970 and even the value friendly Joya Silver…it is hard to go wrong with any of them. Enter the JdN Cuatro Cinco, originally created to celebrate the 45 years that the company has been in the cigar business. This cigar isn’t new or really hyped anymore; the one currently in production has had the blend tweaked a little bit, but the first batch was released back in 2013. That is perfectly fine. New and trendy sticks seem to appear more frequently than additional lines on the faces of avid Miami sun bathers, only to disappear without so much as a whimper shortly thereafter. Longevity tends to mean something in this business. The Cuatro Cinco Doble Robusto is a relatively short, meaty cigar at 5X56. It has a rich, chocolaty reddish brown hue, and a sweet, malty, earthy aroma when unlit. It features a subtle, soft box pressing of a mixture of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos that have been aged within vintage white oak barrels. Veins are minimal and the stick has a good amount of weight/heft to it. It feels like a well made cigar should. Post ignition, expect to be greeted by notes of cedar, cocoa, espresso bean, pepper and nutmeg. An earthy, fermented flavor akin to a rich pu-erh tea seemed to meander throughout the experience. Strength is medium plus, venturing toward full territory. I did have to touch up the burn line once or twice, but I had no major struggles to report All in all, this is a solid smoke that is definitely worth a test drive. Pairs well with coffee, porter or stout.

It stays true to a core of leather and pepper throughout the smoke. A nice dark wood element enters as you smoke and adds depth. This isn't a Baskin Robbins type of smoke. It is a smooth and mature smoke that presents an experience well above the price point.

Tried this as I like the bigger sizes in the line and was looking for a quick morning smoke. It did not have the same zip as the other sizes, burned slightly uneven. The draw was good, with decent smoke production.

Joya cinco cigars. They have come along way. Really good cigar at price point. This cigar beats a lot of cigars in the ten dollar range and Joya is 8.60 dollars. Bang for the buck.

This is a really good tasting cigars, very flavorful, nugget, toasted nuts, meaty. I've smoked it several time, and always the strength snuck up on my. This is a full strength cigar. Flavorful, but be sure to have a full stomach and beware.

Just a fantastic cigar and is one of my favorites to smoke with or without my favorite bourbon. Every one I have ever had has had a great burn with no corrections needed. Great smoke output is a plus for me as well.

just meh...reaaaaly tight draw. notes of wet wood rasing and sweet cedar. an overeall forgettable smoke with a super tight draw that eventually opened up, albeit a day late and a dollar short. fell a bit flat for me and otherwise better sticks on the market for the same coin

This was a marvelous cigar from start to finish. A nice hay like aroma off of the foot. Burn real straight fell in good chunk of ash that were nice and white. A deep rich tobacco and coffee flavor with spice and bit of chocolate at the end. This could be a go to cigar for my rotation.

I expected something different than what I go from the Joya De Nicaragua...But I'm pleased with what it turned out to be! My examples had a bit of a stiffer draw, but I was rewarded with lots of fragrant smoke. It's not as flavorful as I was expecting but certainly it's not bad in anyway. Definitely full-bodied and peppery to my palate. It's a handsome and uniformly good stick!

These cigars are great. I smoked one and gave several out at a Father’s Day party. Mine was perfect but one of the other ones I bought had a little bit of a funky burn that corrected itself by the second third but also affected the flavor.

This is a unique smoke. It is tremendously complex and full of character... as the description description states: earth & leather. However no one flavor jumps out at you. I liken it to that cough medicine we used to take as a kid... you know the one you went back and snuck an extra swig of because it tasted good in an odd sort of way? This cigar has that medicinal quality to it. I highly recommend: 95

This smoke will soon achieve "special occasion" status in your humidor. After the success of the 2013 limited edition Cuatro Cinco launched for their 45th anniversary, Joya de Nicaragua decided to make the Cuatro Cinco a regular line, although it remains a small batch production. First impression: it looks good enough to eat; a soft box pressed stick with a dark brown, oily wrapper that is flawless and has a very enticing aroma. The wrapper is finished with a triple cap. This is a full bodied, sweet-spicy smoke from start to finish, with flavors of cocoa and black pepper. Take your time, pair it with some good coffee, and let Joya de Nicaragua knock your socks off.
