The Diamond Crown Maximus cigar was released in 2003 as a fuller-bodied version to the original Diamond Crown. The JC Newman and Fuente families collaborate in the creation of this rich, sweet smoke handmade with a dark, oily Ecuador Sumatra wrapper. The flavors of Diamond Crown Maximus are cedary, sweet, with notes of coffee and spice.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Sun Grown can be from any varietal of tobacco, the sun grown designation just means that the plant has received more sunshine which provides a more intense flavor.

Dominican Republic
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

I like Dominican Tobacco but wasn't a fan of this one. The wrapper reminds me of the La Historia, not oily and almost chalky for lack of better term. Much prefer the regular Maduro form Diamond Crown than this. Once you consider the price I won't buy this ever again.

Extremely well constructed beautiful cigar. Very dense and hard but with a deep punch cut… draw remained plentiful. Flavor was consistent and very good with earth, pepper, and mild cedar twinges. The stick became bitter at about 2.5” remaining, but it did not define the overall great experience. The cigar has a distinct Diamond history and legacy, very very good cigar! I believe it is a 90-92 quality, comes in a bit above medium intensity.

Not sure what people like about Diamond Crown. I was gifted this heading into Easter and now that I've been through them I can reinforce my opinion that DC igars are subpar. All 4 had terrible construction and burns. Squishy, uneven packs, massive canoeing (uncorrectably bad).

I now have to re evaluate how I grade cigars. This is simply delicious and great.....everything. Drinking an Amontillado with it. Dont know how the experts feel about that, but the slightly sweet, nutty sherry with this is incredible. This is a bit pricey and I'd pay more for it.

Ok flavors but my stick had a terrible burn. 1st third - Spice, wood, black coffee with a dry finish. Crooked burn. 2nd - A burn hole developed about a half inch behind the burn line. Burn hole turned into a runner that never corrected. Wood coffee and pepper flavors. Final 3rd - Pleasant wood flavor with coffee and some dried cocoa, but the runner really ruined the final third.

These were all excellent cigars, but perhaps not as top-notch as I had anticipated. I had the highest expectations for the Julius Caesar, but it was the blandest of the bunch. Or maybe I just got a weaker instance. That happens sometimes. The others were satisfying and flavorful. All looked great and smoked evenly. Some had more complexity than others.
