The iconic Johnny Tobacconaut cigar brand was first released in 2015. Loosely based on the Johnny Appleseed legend, Room 101’s Johnny is a fun-loving, cigar smoking spaceman who travels from planet to planet to spread the word about premium cigars. The Johnny Tobacconaut cigars were released in limited quantities and were sought after by its devoted fanbase. After a deep-space, cryogenic hiatus, Johnny Tobacconaut is back as a regular release. But with a whole new blend and being made by master cigar crafter AJ Fernandez and using AJ’s own tobaccos.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Claro wrapper is light, yellowish brown in color.

Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Mexican tobacco is primarily grown in the San Andres region due to its volcanic soil. It has a very distinctive flavor with a spicy and earthy profile. As a binder it adds to the cigar’s overall flavor.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Cuban expatriate AJ Fernandez produces handmade cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua at the Tabacalera Fernandez factory. Fernandez learned everything he knows about tobacco and cigarmaking from his late grandfather, cigar legend Alejandro Robaina.

I’ve never been a Room 101 fan nor do I think of AJ when wanting a Connecticut. I guess that’s why we try different cigars. This is an exceptional old school type Connecticut with complexity! Very good cigar!!!

First tried the Robusto & was blown away! Decided to try these perfectos! Such a nice cigar! So smooth & mellow…I felt the robusto did have a slightly sweet tip but this is still a cigar I will have in the humidor.
