The Aganorsa Leaf Connecticut is the third line extension of Aganorsa Leaf’s ever-popular Aniversario brand, which is highly regarded for its sophisticated blends and exceptional performance. The Aniversario Connecticut sports a smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper that cloaks Aganorsa-grown leaves from Jalapa and Esteli, which are two of Nicaragua’s top-tobacco producing regions. The cigars are handmade by experienced Cuban rollers at Aganorsa Leaf’s Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A. factory in Nicaragua. “Anivesario” is Spanish for anniversary, but you won’t need a special occasion to enjoy one. But if you do, watching the sunset is special enough.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Big fan of the triple banding, including the matte royal blue, and the soft box press is a nice touch, but the wrapper leaf looks a bit rough so I had to ding it one star. vcut. Lit up easily. Burn line is clean and stack is tight. Draw was perfect with effortless clouds. Flavor profile is surprisingly rich with pepper and cedar.

Very good stick and I have been keeping at least one in my humidor lately. The outer leaf (which is absolutely gorgeous) makes it look very mild but this one has some flavor! Nice mild notes of cocoa and maybe some nuts and it changes as you burn it down.

Firm construction, pretty easy draw. The burn for the first 5-10 minutes or so was really wonky and required a few touchups but it evened out and was smooth smoking from then on. Full-bodied with bold flavors of toasted nuts, grassy herbal sweetness and strong black coffee.
