Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo is a robust Nicaraguan puro with a great cocoa and caramel aromas and spicy, dark chocolate flavor. The wrapper is a beautiful Corojo Oscuro wrapper and the fillers are aged Nicaraguan tobaccos for another great full bodied experience from Joya de Nicaragua.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Just got finished with my first specimen. It's a peculiar cigar; definitely strong as advertised, but with a subdued flavor. Each draw carried the concentrated essence of a Tennessee smoke barn. Our county is reputed to be the foremost producer of dark-fired tobacco in the United States, so I suppose the best way I could describe this is that "it tastes like Fall". Dried Autumn leaves merge with earthy aromas and mild spices. Reminds me of home and that's a good thing, I reckon. Akin to an old rusty tractor, I had to restart it a few times, but it's nonetheless dependable.

I have not had great luck with Joya sticks. This simply would not stay lit. Draw was ok. It was the tastiest Joy I have tried….when it was lit. I’ll try one more of these and hope the construction is better.

Seem to have a relatively tight draw to start. As soon as I let it the draw became impossible. I basically can't offer much opinion on Aroma or taste since it would not burn. Interestingly enough, this is the second joyous cigar I've tried in both unsmokable.

Dark chocolate and caramel in the cold draw, this is a smooth smoke. I love the size, not a two hour commitment, good for an in between smoke, doin errands around time, etc., It’s what I like to call a utility smoke. But if you wanna sit down and pair with a beverage, it’s good enough to be a main smoke as well. Oh, and the price point is pretty good too.

A very good cigar. But i was drawn to it by the famous name related to its strength, was once told it was the strongest cigar in the American Market. Can't get enough Joyas

This is my first review I have written for a cigar so please be kind! Prelight The cigar has a dark wrapper with a little bumpiness to the wrapper. The wrapper itself has a earthy aroma with a wood type smell to it. The cold draw has some chocolate undertones with some pepper. Light Up Lit up like a charm with my two flame lighter. Foot was easy to toast and the burn for the most part was even. A lot of smoke up front which is the usual for this line of cigar. First few puff definitely get the pepper with a hint of chocolate. First Third Similar to the light up. Has a consistent medium to full body taste to the cigar. The pepper trails off and I can taste the earthiness of the cigar. Burn lines are relatively straight with no issues about staying lit. Second Third Pepper has now died off to just a fuller body cigar. Hints of the ligero have now started to punch through. Burn line has wavered a little bit but nothing that needs attention. Very pleasant and enjoyable down through to the last third. Last Third Back to full pepper with a vengeance. I understand that not everyone wants a full bodied monster that can knock you out, but then again I am not one of those people. The mix between the pepper and ligero is strong, almost like the Gran Consul or Pesadilla. Conclusion I usually smoke the larger versions of this line and this is my first of the robusto size. I have to say that I am impressed with the flavors for the size and punch it packs. This cigar in total took me 40 minutes to smoke, which for me considering the size is about right. I would definitely recommend if looking for a cigar that is medium to full body and runs on the strong side that does not wanna a bigger cigar.

I have to admit with deep sorrow, I received it and it was so hard and dry the wrapper came right off. Never ever have had a bad cigar from Neptune till this one. Sad!

Over-achiever and then some. Beautifully constructed, perfect burn and draw, nice flavor ... full but balanced. Thinks its a much bigger cigar and pulls it off. Strongly recommended.

It's always quite a pleasure to smoke an Antaño Dark Corojo. I tried it for the first time a few years ago and my opinion about this stick hasn't changed even a bit: it is a wonderful smoke! The dark wrapper with a black and gold band is very good looking and enticing. Once it's lit you're hit with cedar and chocolate flavors, then leather notes appearing in the second third mixed with a bit of spice. Espresso and chocolate are the predominant flavors but you can taste some caramel and fruity tones in the background as well. It's bold and powerful but not aggressive to the palate,very satisfying. This cigar gives you everything a good cigar is supposed to: power, flavor, aroma, a nice strong ash, an even burning line and an excellent price. What more could you ask for?

A bit on the spicy side, I am more of leathery, coffee, dark chocolate kind of guy but great smoke non the less.

The Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo is a beautiful cigar. First glance one would notice the dark wrapper contrasting its gold and black band. At first light it is a flavor bomb with dark chocolate a light sweetness and a little bit of a spicy wood taste. Be warned Although it is a full bodied bold smoke I found it to be quite smooth. If your a fan of Nicaraguan cigars this should be a must try for you.

I love good looking cigars. My first rule to try a new stick: it has to be beautiful! and Just looking at this one, I can anticipate its full of power and flavors and all those things that makes a cigar enjoyable. This Antano Dark corojo with its dark, shiny, oily wrapper, reminds me of rich, sweets chocolate truffles; God knows I love chocolate!. The first puff is a conjunction of light pepper with leather, but very creamy and kind of sweet at the same time and those notes are there, all the way to the end. The ash is beautiful and strong, holds past half of the stick. What can i say? I'm in love...I just added another cigar to my list of favorites.

This is one for a full stomach. Nice dark flavours compliment the wrapper, and each draw is flavour packed. Really enjoyed it.
