The La Glorida Cubana Criollo de Oro uses the exquisite and exclusive Criollo de Oro leaf for its wrapper. This awesome tobacco is cultivated in Mao, Dominican Republic, which is located in the Cibao Valley. This region is well-known for its rich soil and climate conditions that are ideal for growing premium tobacco. The Criollo de Oro is sun-grown and is prized for its flavor and strength. A carefully composed arrangement of Connecticut, Honduran, and Nicaraguan tobacco was chosen to complete the blend and complement the wrapper’s flavor profile. The La Gloria Cubana Criollo de Oro is handmade in the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Sungrown cigar wrappers come from tobacco plants that are grown directly under the sun without the use of man made tents to give shade as in Shade grown wrappers. As opposed to the Shade grown plants, sun grown tobacco plants grown thicker leaves with thicker veins and darker color. Sungrown wrappers can be appreciated for their rich taste and sweet undertones.

The main tobacco region in the Dominican Republic is the Cibao valley in the northern part of the island. In the 60s, Cuban seeds were brought here by exiled Cuban cigar makers and found that they grew exceptional cigar tobacco, called Piloto Cubano. The native Dominican tobacco, called Olor, is milder than Piloto Cubano yet more aromatic. The first company to grow Dominican tobacco for cigar wrapper was Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in 1995.

USA Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco is grown in the Connecticut River Valley area. The soil in this region is of glacial origins. The tobacco is dark, oily, flavorful, and aromatic. It is used primarily as a maduro wrapper, but it also serves as an excellent binder.

I have had two of them so far and both of them had burn issues. They both had a very tight draw. I enjoyed the taste, but the othe issues made it difficult to enjoy.

Contrary to other reviews I found the draw perfect. Burn was great with great smoke production. It is definitely medium bodied with hints of citrus and chocolate. Reminded me of the Plasencia originale. Really enjoyed it

Expected much more, draw/burn was good, smooth but to a point of having little flavour, very muddled, you have to really concentrate on picking up any nuances. Have smoked much milder cigars which had far more flavour.

Construction needs improvement in burn and draw (neither was consistent). Core flavors were earth, leater, white pepper with some sweetness and spice in the background. I had to remind myself that It's a different cigar (criollo wrapper). While I appreciated expanding my pallet, this is not my favorite flavor profile.

As a brand that has decades of loyal followers and an unwavering sense for quality, La Gloria Cubana should need no introduction to the seasoned smoker. The latest release from the esteemed company, the La Gloria Cubana Criollo de Oro launched late last year and has been making waves with its gorgeous presentation and the fabled 'Criollo de Oro' tobacco, which is essentially a mixture of Criollo and Pelo de Oro. When I first lit the Criollo de Oro Toro, I was greeted with instant flavor, with notes of spicy earth and an almost graham cracker-like taste. I was pleased with the burn, as it stayed perfectly even throughout the experience, and I only needed to relight once (which was entirely my fault due to in-depth conversation). Halfway through, all spice notes had all but gone away, and I was left with a traditional flavor profile carrying nutty notes of cedar. Not much later, I encountered notes of honey make an appearance as well! The Criollo de Oro Toro starts and ends with a balanced medium-body strength, which is nice since some cigars amp up or down as you smoke. This one is perfect for when you want no surprises. Consistency is key and the LGC has that in spades. With its use of Dominican, Nicaraguan, Honduran and USA Connecticut tobaccos, this cigar is all over the map, and sees a delicious bouquet of flavors as a result. If you want a solid, tasty, and reliable smoke, light up a La Gloria Cubana Criollo de Oro and simmer in the wealth of smoke that exudes!
