Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
USA Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco is grown in the Connecticut River Valley area. The soil in this region is of glacial origins. The tobacco is dark, oily, flavorful, and aromatic. It is used primarily as a maduro wrapper, but it also serves as an excellent binder.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Paper cover takes commitment to remove … requires removal of main band. No big deal b/c it doesn’t damage the wrapper. Construction is grade A great draw after easy cut of the cap; minimal burn corrections needed. Flavors are very pepper forward with some dried fruit that is most noticeable during the first 1/2 smoking and also from the pre-light wrapper aroma. Second half is dominated by pepper; gets hot at the roach. Nice long burn time. Would buy more at a lower price point

Interesting cigar. To the extent that it tries to recapture a flavor from the past, that was achieved. Primary flavors were earth, leather, some wood notes, aged tobacco, all balanced and smooth. It's a good cigar for its time. Overall a pleasant experience. This will not wow any experienced smoker accustomed to the new bold and complex blends. It's fun to drive a roadster from the 1920's or 30's but it's unfair to try to compare it to today's 4x4 truck or SUV or sedan ....

As the story goes, Midas had the special ability to turn everything he touched into gold. Well, similarly, AJ Fernandez has the ability to turn everything he touches into greatness. He continues that tradition with the El Rey Del Mundo Limited Edition Toro. No stranger to teaming up with other companies, he has now collaborated with legendary brand El Rey Del Mundo. At first glance, the nice dark wrapper calls your attention with its beauty. Once you light it, you will be glad it called you! At first light, you are introduced to a nice earthy and coffee note. A nice hint of spice is also introduced. Do not be fooled by the light-hued wrapper, it is a medium to medium-full strength cigar. At the half way point, the spice does diminish a bit. The nice earthy and coffee notes are still present, however. A nice nutty flavor does make an appearance. The aroma and the burn are great. Toward the end, the spice does come back a bit, but not too much. The other notes are still present and living in perfect harmony. They all compliment each other to make this a great cigar. Try one today... AJ can do no wrong, and this further proves that!

Good cigar, however, it smokes exactly like a classic, standard AJ mid/full profile from their line, so i feel like the price ends up being a little steep. Nevertheless since i like AJs, the cigar itself is definitely enjoyable.
