Warped founder Kyle Gellis is proud to bring to you one of his brand's most sought after offerings - the Warped Lirio Rojo, a special limited edition release under the 'Cabinet Selection De Warped' line of cigars. Made at the Casa Fernandez factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, the Warped Lirio Rojo is a premium medium to full-bodied puro that will smother your palate with notes of caramel, cocoa, cream and pepper in perfect, delicious harmony. This small-batch boutique corona is only seeing 40 boxes of 50 being produced, so at just 2,000 cigars total worldwide, you would be wise to stock up sooner rather than later.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

Nicaraguan Corojo
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan Corojo '99 tobacco originated as a wrapper leaf in 1999 in Cuba. The seeds of the original Corojo '99 seed were planted in Ecuador, and these in turn were transplanted to Nicaragua. The leaf is appreciated for its excellent wrapper qualities and spiciness.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Christmas is over, but Warped’s Lirio Rojo is not going anywhere— at least, for now. This on-again, off-again holiday-season release has a slightly sweet, nutty woodiness along with a touch of spice on the lips during the dry draw. Immediately upon lighting, my palate was hit with a smoky and woody spice which is extremely prominent, for only about ten minutes. Once it dies down, it is replaced by an intense nuttiness along with some creaminess which creates a very enjoyable end to the first third. Occasionally at this point a sweet, sugar note is present on the retrohale. As the second third begins in earnest you start to feel an increase in the intensity of the nuttiness, and the main essence of this smoke is a sweet, creamy and nutty flavor with a touch of cedar. A very interesting cigar that starts off powerful and quickly pulls back, but by the beginning of the final third that strength of body is there in full force paired with a brown sugar sweetness. A slightly peppery wood closes the cigar out, a great experience. Because of the nutty sweetness and slight spiciness, I think it would go well with a cappucino.

I bought two of these and, after having them rest in my humidor for a few months, smoked them a few weeks apart. I must say I was not impressed with either one- both had burn issues and needed relighting multiple times even with consistent puffing. I usually have high hopes for Warped sticks but for the price I’ll not be buying any more for the time being.

I don't know what it is about this cigar that makes me keep coming back for it. Maybe it's the fact that I feel like I'm in one of the original James Bond films from the 60's. It just feels that cool when you hold it because of the size and no label - maybe?. It doesn't hurt that is tastes great. Perfect medium everything.
