The Epic Habano is a medium-bodied Dominican cigar with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Cameroon binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. Notes of cedar, espresso and graham cracker can be found here, and thanks to the somewhat rare use of a Cameroon binder, you can expect to detect a nice sweet yet subtlety spicy note throughout. Smooth and bold.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Cameroon
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Cameroon tobacco is fragile and thin but gives the cigar a sweet and light flavor. It is cultivated in the West African countries of Cameroon and Central African Republic.

Dominican Republic
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

Really worthwhile cigar from Epic.

The Epic Habano Lancero was one unassuming, but good-looking stick. Its band featured the Epic name in a Gothic or Medieval font style. Underneath the band was a smaller band that simply read “Habano.” I have always appreciated simplicity in style and design and this Epic fits the bill, epically. The cigar’s Ecuadorian Habano wrapper was veiny, and it had a light oily sheen to it. The construction was on the softer side of firm. Pre-light, a warm tobacco aroma came off the body and foot. The cold draw was effortless, but it was a little too loose for my tastes. I was able to pick up a hint of chocolate off the cold draw. Into the first third, this lancero had a sharp peppery and spicy flavor to it. The retro-hale was peppery but not overwhelming. The finish was thick and spicy. At some point in the second third, the flavor profile transitioned. The spice tapered down, and the tobacco flavor took over all the way to the end. The strength was a steady medium. The draw stayed loose throughout. The burn was good. The ash had a nice salt and pepper look to it, and the smoke was wispy. Overall, I’d recommend the Epic Habano Lancero to smokers who want to make a switch from thick cigars to something longer and leaner.
