Caldwell Lost and Found One Night Stand

The Caldwell Lost andFound One Night Stand is part of the Lost and Found series of small batch cigars. It is a Dominican puro that features a red-hued Colorado wrapper. The Lost and Found is a special project founded by Robert Caldwell and Jaclyn Sears of Caldwell Cigars and Tony Bellatto of La Barba Cigars. The project was conceived during Caldwell’s travels through Caribbean and Central American cigar factories where he would find carefully aged and well-maintained cigars that were once popular or limited releases. The cigars left a memorable impression on the team, so they decided to re-introduce them to the cigar-smoking world. The sticks are repackaged and re-released as limited-run cigars. Portions of the proceeds from the sale of Lost&Found cigars will be donated to charity.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
The main tobacco region in the Dominican Republic is the Cibao valley in the northern part of the island. In the 60s, Cuban seeds were brought here by exiled Cuban cigar makers and found that they grew exceptional cigar tobacco, called Piloto Cubano. The native Dominican tobacco, called Olor, is milder than Piloto Cubano yet more aromatic. The first company to grow Dominican tobacco for cigar wrapper was Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in 1995.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

I know there is a lot of negative talk about Lost & Found being a little gimmicky, but these are delicious no matter where they came from and the Neptune prices can't be beat. Know these aren't a Caldwell rolled product, but as a side note on Caldwell cigars, haven't had one I have not enjoyed.

Good cigar. Mild. Sort of a musty, barnyard, sweet aroma to it. Reminiscent of the PG 15th anniversary cigar, which is one of my favorites. Good burn. Draw slightly on the loose side. Worth trying for sure.

Not all one night stands have to be a mistake. Caldwell has made one that you will no doubt enjoy. The Lost and Found One Night Stand Toro is a Dominican puro that has had me curious for a while now, so I decided to give it a chance. Besides the nice brown shade on the wrapper, the label is also an eye catcher. Upon first light, a nice mellow flavor of cedar and earth notes are introduced. Small hints of pepper and spice are making their presence felt. The draw on the cigar is great, nice and easy. At the halfway point, a tasty hint of nuts have now made their appearance. The spice notes do go down a bit, while the pepper notes go up a bit to compensate. The earthy notes are still present, while the cedar notes have lessened a bit. At this point, it is still a very enjoyable smoke. Towards the end of the cigar, all the notes are still present, but firing on all cylinders together. The combination of the earthy notes, pepper and nut made this a flavorful experience. If you enjoy a drink with your smoke, try a nice glass of Tomatin to enhance the flavors. Take a chance with this One Night Stand... you won't be ashamed to tell your friends about this one.

This was a delicious smoke (outside my normal profile of maduros), but delicious. My only complaint is that it wouldn't stay lit which becomes a problem when you get down to the last 1/3 of the stick. I'll smoke this one again when I need a break from my norm.
